Groundhog Day
  1. What’s your favorite Bill Murray performance?
I mean, it's kind of hard to NOT say Groundhog Day because of local ties, but I was reciting stuff from Caddyshack the other day, so... Really, I just love the man.
  2. What’s been a highlight of your winter so far?
I hate winter. Even Christmas this year didn't alleviate that.
  3. What’s there to look forward to in the next six weeks?
I can't think of a thing. Lent is starting this week, so that's the next six weeks. Oh, wait: paczkis on Tuesday.
  4. Too early for flapjacks?
Today? Well, honestly, it's never EVER too early or late for flapjacks. Hmm, maybe that's lunch tomorrow....
  5. If someone in a bar asks to buy you a drink (and let’s just say for the sake of the question you are amenable), what do you order?
Stoli tonic with a lime twist.

Rockit
  1. What’s your favorite instrumental hit song?
    Well, let's start with Bach.
  2. What’s a good movie with rockets in in it?
Uhm? This is really not a way I tend to categorize movies. So, er, Toy Story?
  3. In 1977, Voyager I took off on its very long journey, loaded with two golden records containing sounds meant “to portray the diversity of life and culture on Earth, and are intended for any intelligent extraterrestrial life form, or for future humans, who may find them,” according to Wikipedia. The contents were chosen by a committee chaired by Carl Sagan, but if Dr. Sagan called you today (you know, from beyond) and said there was room for ten more minutes of music and he was letting you choose it, what would you fill the ten minutes with?
    Bruno Mars.
  4. What’s something you know about constellations?
I can usually spot Orion's Belt (thanks, Beast, one of our early "dates") and that's about it.
  5. When did you last spend time in a rocking chair?
Our rocking chair is full of pillows and lap rugs, so it's been awhile here. Elsewhere? I can't think of anything recent.

Five of Whatever
  1. How tidy are your kitchen cabinets?
The insides are pretty tidy. We don't tend to throw stuff in them willy-nilly. Everything has it's approved place and things tend to stay put. My spices are alphabetized if that gives you any ideas...
  2. What’s an art project you did in school that you remember fondly?
We did wood-burning one year, burning designs into wood with a hot iron.
We were, like 8 or 9. No eye or hand protection. I don't even remember anyone having issues with either the plan or the tools. It would never happen today.
  3. What’s the best thing you ate on your most recent trip?
My most recent trip was a weekend getaway about 60 miles from here, alone. I don't remember any fabulous food. I mostly slept and read and did puzzles in the hotel room.
  4. What’s the dumbest non-political thing you’ve seen lately?
I love that you have to make this stipulation! I see stupid, or at least super-strange, stuff pretty much every day at work. I'm trying to think of the latest thing that made me actually take notice....maybe the continued appearance of people checking significant others' phones for reasons to get pissed off. Why do people do this? Why are you looking for anything? I mean, if you already don't trust the girl, why are you still dating? Focus should stay on what YOU are going to do with information you already have.
  5. What’s something in your home that’s lasted longer than you expected?
I have a table I "appropriated" from the house I stayed in between junior and senior year of college. It's got lovely lines and minimal damage (although the addition of a lower shelf kind of throws things off). It's been refinished but otherwise continues to be a nice piece in our upstairs hallway holding a lamp and a phone.

Saturday 9

Mama Can't Buy You Love (1979)
Unfamiliar with this week's song? Hear it here.

1) This week's artist, Elton John, was made an Office of Arts and Letters -- one of France's highest honors for people who have contributed significantly to the arts. What's the most recent compliment you received?
I can't think of anything. I've been thanked, but I can't think of a compliment. Probably, it's because I am not geared to listen to them?
2) In 2013, Elton had to cancel an international concert tour because he had an appendectomy. Do you still have your appendix?
I do not. It came out "just in case, while [they] were in there anyway" in 1997. The surgeon was absolutely sure that my appendix was the cause of the immense pain I was having; it was not. (It was a baseball-sized tumor, which had burst. I'll spare the details.)
3) In 1979, Elton John was the first Western rock star to tour the Soviet Union. Would you like to visit Russia?
I have. And I'd go back in a heartbeat, though perhaps not right now. I'm sure it's changed a bit (hah) since I was there 30 years ago.
4) Elton and his mother hadn't spoken in years but he reached out to her and healed their b[r]each in honor of her 90th birthday in 2015. Who is the oldest person you know?
Hmm, interesting. I know a LOT of people in their 70s and early 80s. I used to know a lot of folks in their 90s. I can't actually think of who I know that's the "winner" here.
5) Flowers and plants are popular on Mother's Day. How is your yard or garden? Is it green and/or blooming?
It's kind of a mess right now: thousands of dandelion stalks in the yard, weeds in the gardens, unmown this weekend. At some point, Beast is just going to have to face reality and hire a yard service..... But, yeah, it's green under all the dandelions. That's rarely a problem 'round here.
6) Mother's Day is a big holiday for card shops. So are birthdays, weddings, and St. Patrick's Day. Hallmark sells greetings for everything from "Congratulations on Your New Job" to "Happy Retirement." Who received the most recent card you bought?
I'm pretty sure that was Val Day cards for Sparky and Beast.
7) Sam's mother is very careful when she unwraps presents because she likes to save money by to reusing wrapping paper and gift bags. Tell us one way that you economize.
I wash and reuse plastic storage bags (i.e. baggies). Yes, I've been warned multiple times about it. I don't reuse anything that had raw meat in it.
8) Mother Winters used to scold Crazy Sam for leaving her dirty dishes in the sink. Sam admits it: as a grown up, she still leaves dirty dishes in the sink. How about you? Is your sink or dishwasher empty?
I emptied the dishwasher before dinner, then immediately emptied the sink and drainboard into it, so now the counter is clear(er). Honestly? I can't get ahead. I'm so tired of living in untidiness, but I'm so tired, period, that I just don't seem to get things cleaned.
9) RANDOM QUESTION: What size mattress do you sleep on -- twin, full, queen or king?
We have a Sleep Number bed, king-size, with split mattresses so we can adjust head and feet separately. Aside from the hassle of buying sheets and the random separation of mattresses with use, I adore my bed. It is the absolute best investment we've made in furniture.

Guestimation
  1. How well do you adjust to sleeping in an unfamiliar place?
When I was younger, it was hard. I slept poorly the first night anywhere, even places where I had slept before. These days, I drop like a hot rock wherever I am.
  2. When were you recently someone’s guest, and when were you recently someone’s host?
Does Sparky count as a guest? He comes home to visit every few months. The last place I slept that wasn't home or hotel was Rosellen and Spence's last fall on our whirlwind tour of England. They've now moved from Manchester to Peterborough, so we have to go visit again. Besides the baby twins are walking now!!
  3. What’s the ickiest place where you’ve ever showered or bathed?
My oldest niece's college apartment. The shower was absolutely disgusting.
  4. What’s something you don’t need but insist on taking when you travel?
"Need" is relative, yes? I probably don't "need" books, or trashy magazines, but it would be a sucky vacation.
  5. Who’s got a comfy couch?
I do. I love my couch (which I just spelled as "concussion" because I'm watching last week's NCIS).

Sunday Stealing

(Link in meme-roll)
Crazy Random Twenty Meme

Have you ever demolished a wall or building?
I've participated in demolition, yes. My dad was in construction, which often starts with destruction. Beast is a big fan of demo, too.
If you and a friend both wanted the same thing would you let the friend get it first?
Sure. Of course it depends on what "it" was, and if there was only one "it" left on Earth. And some other vagaries of the situation as they arose.
Have you ever argued over who should pay for something?
I'm pretty sure everyone except my niece Katharine and everyone under age 20 has done this.
Do you have any family heirlooms?
We are stuffed to the gills with family heirlooms. Got rid of several yesterday--they are now Sparky's responsibility. Still have over twice as many as what he took left here.
Are you related or distantly related to anyone famous?
Probably not. If I believed in past lives, I'm sure I would have no fun stories of exciting and wealthy past lives. We've always been serfs.
What's your favorite ocean?
I do like the Pacific.
Do you correct peoples mistakes?
Sometimes. I'm getting better at biting my tongue. If it's seriously dangerous, though, I will speak up.
Have you ever helped out an injured animal?
Yes, I've had pets. Also, we took a maimed bunny found in our yard to the vet once. Our dog caught it and broke its back legs, poor thing.
Do you throw bread for the ducks?
Not anymore. They need to learn to fend for themselves.
Do you think babies are little bundles of joy or smelly noisy things?
They are both. Most are in the middle of this spectrum, but there are always outliers that live towards the extreme ends.
Do you give money to buskers?
Not usually. Then again, there aren't a lot of (any) buskers in my area.
Do you ever forward or reply to chain mails?
No. Hate them. Please, if I see another "If you have a sister/aunt/friend..." thing on Facebook I might vomit. And the ones that say "I'll bet none of my so-called 'Christian' friends will post this..." about God -- those I want to kill. With fire!
Do you often have a tune in your head you can't name?
No, I can usually name whatever I've got scrolling through.
Has anyone ever approached you thinking you were someone else?
All . The . Time. I love people who ask--after I've said that no, I'm not [whoever they think I am]--"are you sure?" Yeah, dammit, I'm pretty clear on my family and former workplaces!!
Have you ever starred in an amateur or professional video?
My father-in-law filmed every-damn-thing. Beast did too when we were first married. My brother-in-law took some classic Super-8 of me hula-hooping at about age 8.
Have you ever been in a position of authority?
I'm middle management. And a mom. And a teacher. So, yeah.
If you were ruler of your own country what would you call it?
"In Desperate Trouble"
And what title would you give yourself?
Now that its former owner is retired, "Bumbler-in-Chief" will do.
If you invented a monster what would you call it?
"Cat., Upon Awakening"
And what features would it have?
Really scary hair and squinty, blind eyes. Incoherence is a bonus, too.

Blogthings

You Are a Country Chair
You are down to earth and very practical. You like things that last, and you always look for craftsmanship.

Some may call you old fashioned, and it's true that many of your favorite things come from deep in the past.

You like to slow down and live life right. You believe that mistakes get made when we rush.

You believe that most things in life are a waste of time. You focus your attention on what truly matters.
Oh, no, sir! I am a great one for wasting time--hence this blog!

Patrick's Place

Saturday Six

1. C is for CABLE: Do you pay for cable or satellite television or have you "cut the cord"?
We have DirecTV as we have for the past 11+ years. We have had to call for service...uhm...three (?) times. One time a guy had to come do something with our antenna because of a problem we'd called about. He was punctual, timely, efficient and inexpensive. Otherwise we literally have never had major trouble. How do you beat that? Our cable company was called at least once a year, and the guys they sent out were jerks and expensive and dumb.
2. C is for CACOEPY: Which common mispronunciation do you find most annoying?
"Jew-ler-ee" (jewelry), "Reel-uh-ter" (Realtor), and "Nu-kyuh-ler" (nuclear) make me completely crazy. Really people. Really? They are some of the words in English that are pronounced exactly as they are spelled and we can't even do it right. gah
3. C is for CANDLE: At which age do you think it's appropriate to stop placing a candle for every year on someone's birthday cake?
When the cake catches fire, you've passed the optimum year. Some people are really silly about the number, so it's probably tactful to stop at about 25 or 30. Frankly, if you could've gotten 50 candles on my cake last year, I'd've been all for it! That would have been one giant cake! :-)
4. C is for CENT: Do you think pennies should still be minted or should we just give up on the single cents?
I think that if we instituted a VAT instead of the current system of taxing, we could make the prices all end in 0 or 5 and just not need pennies. Otherwise, we're pretty much stuck with them.
5. C is for CHAIR: Describe your favorite chair in your home?
Beast's recliner is pretty comfy, but I have to give favorite status to the blue chair in the basement, formerly Amy's. It's really comfy and tall and screams "Sit here and read a book!" to me. However, I mostly sit on the sofa because it is comfy and located in a better place in the house from which to organize things. Also, right now, it's warmer in this room!
6. C is for CORN: What’s your favorite way to eat corn?
I'm not fussy--I love corn! However, I'm allergic to the pollen so as much as I like it fresh off the farm, shucking it is a pain and even handling it to cook can be problematic. My sister's allergic to eating corn, so the fact that I'm "only" allergic to the pollen makes me happy whenever I eat it. However, I think I may be developing some problems with corn additives in foods, not as bad as my sister's problems, but a general I-don't-feel-so-hot thing. This is annoying, but I can still eat corn, cornmeal, and corn tortillas, so I'm not complaining.

Saturday Six

1. Which is your favorite rock band?
U2.
2. Which rock other than the one that is your real birthstone do you wish was your birthstone?
I've always wanted to be Opal (October). Don't ask me why: there's no deep meaning, beyond knowing someone with that name once, and liking opals.
3. How many pieces of jewelry do you own with your actual birthstone in it?
I have one necklace, which I rarely wear because it's topaz set in gold. I don't like gold, and you can barely see the topaz against the gold.
4. Which sketch, if any, do you most remember from ABC’s Saturday morning "Schoolhouse Rock" series?
I was never allowed to watch cartoons on Saturday mornings, so I never got to see "Schoolhouse Rock" except as an adult. My mother has a lot to answer for!
5. Do you own a rocking chair?
Yes. And I used it today, too, but not while I was holding the baby.
6. Someone who can be strong in the face of adversity is often described as a "rock." Who in your life is that rock for you?
God.

Ill Fits
  1. What item in your wardrobe do you wish was better-fitting?
  2. Pretty much everything, yo. I'm working on trying to get back into some of my old capris and prettier blouses, but at this rate they'll be woefully out of fashion.
  3. What role in a play, musical, or television program would be a terrible fit for you but is still something you wish you could try?
  4. Anything from "A Chorus Line"--I can't dance at all, but oh, would I especially love to play Diana.
  5. Which furnishing in your home clashes most with the others, for whatever reason?
  6. Everything in my house clashes with everything else; we don't shop to match. Right now I'm looking at my dining room chairs--square tops, solid wood top to bottom--and the chairs at the counter in the kitchen--rounded tops, relatively cheaply made. Oh, well, they are the same color at least. We have tables in the living room that are three different 'shades' of wood, none of which actually match the built-in cupboards.
  7. What item in your possession are you using for something other than its intended purpose?
  8. I'm using the couch as a table for the granola I just finished...does that count?
  9. What's something others expect of you that you are just not comfortable with?
  10. Being normal, conforming. I have a hard time taking orders, or following 'suggestions', about normal behavior.

Tuesday Choices

(Link in meme-roll)

1. Chinese takeaway or Indian takeaway?
Over here in Leftpondia we don't have so much in the way of Indian takeaway. So Chinese.
2. Daffodils or tulips?
Daffodils. The remind me of my sister Ellen, who loved them.
3. Pine furniture or mahogany furniture?
Let's be realistic here: I prefer oak. Or teak. I have a lot of pine-with-veneer though.
4. Enid Blyton or A A Milne?
Again, over here in the States Enid's never been all that. And I adore Milne anyway: "King John was not a good man..."
5. Apple or pear?
Apples are easier to find in perfect condition. I love pears though, when they are at their prime.
6. Beer or cider?
Neither. Unless we're talking about American apple cider...love that with a cinnamon stick stirrer.
7. House or bungalow?
I'm finding this very interesting. American bungalow. Not sure what the difference between American and British, but here they are both houses.
8. Hersheys chocolate or Cadburys chocolate?
Cadbury's.
9. Mountain or ocean?
Mountains.
10. Reality TV or soaps?
Select reality TV shows are good. I haven't watched a soap with intent in over 35 years, despite the efforts of my college roommate and former coworkers.
11. Nightie or pyjamas?
Pajamas.
12. Vanilla coke or Cherry Coke?
Cherry Coke. Real cherry Coke: fresh fountain Coke with cherry syrup. Yummy.

Sunday Stealing

(Link in meme-roll)
40 of The Most Random Questions Meme, Part One

1) What side of the heart do you draw first?
The side to my left, I think. But I just checked to be sure and I can go either way. I'm assuming this is the traditional "valentine" heart, by the way, since I'm pretty sure I couldn't draw either side of an anatomically-correct heart.
2) Can you dive without plugging your nose?
I can't swim, so the whole diving thing doesn't happen. So, I guess that means nose=unplugged.
3) What color is your razor?
Peach and white. I don't buy pink if I can avoid it.
4) What is your blood-type?
O+ Yeah, they love me at the blood centers.
5) Who would you want to be tied to for 24 hours?
No one. Really? Yuck.
6) What is a rumor someone has spread about you?
Oh, hell, I don't know. Probably like most mythology, whatever people say about me is based on a sprinkling of fact.
7) How do you feel about carrots?
I like them much better now than I did as a child.
8) How many chairs at the dining room table?
Four. There are four back-up chairs in the front closet, and we have a window seat that has been employed as seating as well.
9) Which is the best Spice Girl?
Baby. She's the only one I haven't heard from or about in a decade.
10) Do you know what time it is?
Yes. ... Oh, you want me to tell you the time? It's 18:44:51 GMT -6 as I type this.
11) Do you know all the words to the Fresh Prince Theme Song?
...the fuuuu...?
12) What would you do if you were stuck in an elevator?
Phone for help, yell for help, pound on the door....sit and wait. I wonder if I started singing if people would rescue me faster...?
13) What’s your favorite kind of gum?
Peppermint. I'm a huge Eclipse chewer. ...er, well, I mean I frequently grab a piece instead of eating.
14) All’s fair in love and war?
No. I've come to the conclusion that there's nothing fair at all about this world.
15) Do you have a crush on anyone?
I ... don't think so? Maybe a little mental crush on the Prez.
16) Do you know how to use some words correctly, but not know the meaning?
I can compose a coherent sentence using only words I know, which is a bit of an improvement over this question. And yes, I do occasionally use words I'm not 100% sure of in order to sound more impressive to impressionable people. I'm not proud.
17) Do you like to sleep?
Oh, hell YES! However, over the past month or so, I've been having some very disturbing dreams; not nightmares, just ... uncomfortable, stress-y, strange. Hard to explain.
18) Do you know which US states don’t use Daylight Savings time?
I know two states that don't.
19) Do you know the words to the song Total Eclipse of the Heart?
OK, that one I do know, mostly.
20) Do you want a bright yellow ‘06 mustang?
No. I have no interest in driving around in a banana.

Saturday 9

(Link in meme-roll)
Brand New Me

1) It's a brand new year! Do you have any resolutions for 2013?
Nope. I don't really do resolutions. I do need to stop eating stuff that is bad for me, though, which is more of a recognition that I'm not 20 anymore than a resolution.
2) Dusty Springfield sang of feeling "brand new." What leaves you feeling refreshed and/or rejuvenated?
A good night's rest, a shower or bath, getting something major accomplished, that sort of thing.
3) Dusty's given name was Mary Catherine. If you could give yourself a brand new first name, what would it be?
I have come to appreciate and even like my first name. Ironically, I used to want to be called Sam. If pressed, I wouldn't mind being a Jo.
4) Actor Billy Bob Thornton has dismissed antiques, saying, "I'm creeped out by old stuff." Do you ever shop at estate sales, yard sales or second-hand stores? Or do you want everything brand new?
I'm pretty creeped out by Billy Bob, who isn't exactly a spring chicken himself. And I do like older stuff that's in good shape, much better than new stuff that costs the moon and falls apart tomorrow. Having said that, I don't shop in second-hand stores very often because of the dust factor, I don't go to yard sales because they are mostly full of junk (or things I have literally NO need for, e.g., kids' toys), and I don't go to estate sales because they depress the hell out of me.
5) Are you sad to see the holiday decorations slowly disappear until next year? Or do you think they should come down on January 2?
I think they should come down on Epiphany or thereabouts. My mom was a big believer in January 1 being the clean-up day, but that's mostly a carry-over from having a real tree slowly turning into a fire hazard. Ours is still up. Maybe we'll get it all down and put away this weekend...we'll see. As for outdoor stuff, I'm fine with the lights staying up for awhile; it's too cold around here in January and February (usually) to ask people to crawl around on their roofs and wade through snow to collect everything.
6) Do you like the picture on your photo ID?
I actually do, even though my hair is quite different now.
7) Crazy Sam shudders at the very thought of a snake. Which is your least favorite member of the Animal Kingdom?
I do NOT like maggots, or other creepy-slimy things like leeches and snails. Snakes, not being slimy, do not bother me much, especially around here where none of them is poisonous. And kinda weirdly, I love earthworms.
8) What's the most recent magazine you flipped through?
Booklist, December 15 issue. At work. For the reviews.
9) Do you have nice handwriting?
If I slow down, then yes. My usual scrawl, however, is far from attractive. It is, however, almost always semi-legible, which is more than I can say for at least two people with whom I work.

Friday Fill-Ins

(Link in meme-roll)

1. When the humidity is low, I don't mind hot weather at all.

2. Where I'm going to put all the extra furniture that's currently in our bedroom is a mystery to me.

3. How now brown cow.

4. Why? "Why not?" is more like it.

5. Time is passing very slowly this month...and yet very quickly too.

6. What if we all stopped arguing about stupid shit? Imagine the forward progress we could make.7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to eating pizza and getting a full night's sleep for a change, tomorrow my plans include work and a funeral and maybe a festival, and Sunday, I want to sleep in and pre-make some meals!

Curious as a Cat

(Link in meme-roll)

1) Describe your ideal romantic dinner.
Well, it's really all about the company, right? So, someplace Beast and I can talk and laugh and enjoy good food without worrying about day-to-day things. It's amazing though: some meals that 'look' romantic and fun end up being anything but, while others that seem fraught turn out to be delightful. It's a hard balance to achieve.
2) If you were a piece of furniture, what would you be?

No, this is not my house...sigh...I wish.
3) When was the last time you spotted an unwelcome visitor (i.e., bug, rodent, etc.) in your house?
Aside from the minuscule spider running across the kitchen counter the other day, I haven't seen any vermin of the "freak out and scrub down everything in the house" variety in a very long time. For which I am very thankful. Apparently, we're just untidy, not actually dirty.
4) Show and Tell. What comes to mind first when you see this picture? Or, tell a story if it reminds you of one.
Public Domain Photo
It reminds me of the dry stone walls in Yorkshire which have stood for centuries and run up and down the dales. Then it reminds me of Robert Frost's poem, Mending Wall:
...Before I built a wall I'd ask to know
What I was walling in or walling out,
And to whom I was like to give offence....
But this looks more like Germany to me, or anyway someplace greener and more forested. And it's lovely. I wouldn't mind sitting against it and reading for a bit, or maybe just soaking up the sunshine and warmth from the rocks.

Ready or Not

1. When severe whether [sic] happens, generally speaking, are you ready for it?
Yup. Much as you can be ready for tornadoes, wind, snow, ice...etc.
2. If you could wake up tomorrow with a new talent, what would it be?
Keeping my damn mouth shut!
3. What do you strive for in life?
Calm.
4. If you were given a vacation home and you could have it anywhere, what location would you choose?
Colorado, preferably in the San Juans or at least the southwestern corner.
5. Do you feel energized or drained by being in a group situation? If the answer is "it depends," on what does it depend?
Mostly, I feel energized, if people are generally positive. Negative people drain me.
6. When you're sick do you take "sick days" or do you force yourself to continue working?
I call in; no point in getting everyone else sick too.
7. What is your absolute favorite piece of furniture you have and why?
I really love our kitchen table; it's a tangible reminder of my dad.
8. When you go out, where do you like to go? What do you like to do?
When I go out, I go to the store, I go to work, I go to the mailbox, I go to church. So, yeah, sometimes I like doing it, sometimes I don't.
9. How's life? Is it treating you well right now?
Could be worse, but wow could it be better too!

Curious as a Cat

(Link in meme-roll)

1) Using the first line of your favorite song, tell a story about why it’s your favorite.
"My love she throws me like a rubber ball" reminds me, every time I hear it, of the poem King John's Christmas by A.A. Milne, a poem I dearly love. I also like the whole concept of love this song explores.
2) If you were a piece of furniture, what would you be, and why?
A very saggy, comfortable chair, I guess. Probably a recliner.
3) Dimples: like ‘em, hate ‘em? Don’t care?
Don't care, although they are pretty cute in children.
4) Show and Tell. What comes to mind first when you see this picture? Or, tell a story if it reminds you of one.

This is the back of my son's head during Spirit Week last fall. It was either Costume Day or 50s Day; I can't remember for sure. I created the D.A. for him, and he's got his dad's H-D leathers over his shoulder.

1. Are you a neat sleeper or a messy sleeper?
I went through over a decade of basically not moving at all in the night. This, by the way, has very little to recommend it from any standpoint except perhaps the neatness one. I now make a point to roll around a bit, and apparently I've gotten piggy with the covers over the last few years as well, to hear Beast tell it. However, I rarely sprawl and the covers are always ON the bed when I wake up. And I never end up on the floor or hanging off the foot of the bed. Sleeping in a loft in college cured that habit in a big hurry! :-)
2. Fill in the blank. I wish I was more proactive.

3. What is something that you wish you had been warned about?
Most of the things I needed to be warned about I probably was, but it's hard to really 'get' some things till after you've gone through them. Like childbirth, and the death of someone very close to your heart.
4. What was the best thing you ever found at a garage sale/flea market?
The exit. Not a fan. [OK, probably the best totally accidental find happened while shopping for a couch for my niece Katherine about 7 years ago: I discovered a whole set of luncheon dishes to match the apple bowls my mom gave me. I love that set! And then I had to help K move the damn couch up two flights of stairs, too. Suck.]
5. If you could have any meal brought to you right now, what would it be?
Seeing as I have to weigh-in tomorrow, I'll be having a salad, thanks. I'd kill for pasta in Alfredo sauce, bread sticks and about 4 stiff LIITs though...sigh.

Chairy

You Are Calm and Comforting
You're the type of person who can sit all day in order to keep someone in need company.

You are kind and giving. Helping other people is your one, true person [sic] in life.

You give a first impression of blending in. And it's somewhat true - you need to be drawn out.

You are an armchair spiritual leader.
You can bring peace to those who can't usually be comforted.

There is a LOT to be said for coherence. But most of it wouldn't be sadid about this particular result.
