Vol. 133
1. Picture postcards were first printed back in the mid-1800's and deltiology is the official name for postcard collecting. When did you last send a postcard? Receive one? Do you save postcards sent to you? Do you collect and/or send postcards when you travel?I send one to work whenever I go on vacation for more than few days. Otherwise, I buy them when I can't take good photos of things, and I only save the ones sent to me that I like.
2. What treat do you most like to indulge in while on vacation?Realistically--since I don't have alcohol in the house anymore--it's mostly booze that I appreciate.
3. Are you good at hiding your feelings?Sometimes. But not always, or often.
4. Does your town/city/county still deliver telephone books to your home? Do you check the yellow pages when searching for a local business number or has the internet replaced the phone book in your home?We just got a new one a couple of weeks ago, and it's already been used. I didn't look in it, Beast did; I usually use the internet.
5. Would you rather be first or last?Depends. Ice cream : first! Innoculations : last!
6. July is National Park and Recreation Month (in America, but everyone can still play along)...where and when were you last in a park? Did you participate in any recreational activities while you were there?I don't remember the last park I was in. It may have been overseas, in fact.
7. What was one of your worst ideas?I have so many it's hard to pick the worst. I can't think of anything really stupid of recent vintage that I'm willing to go into here. Suffice to say I often have a really big mouth.
8. Insert your own random thought here.
...so many things I should do tonight, but I think the most important thing is for me to get 8 hours of sleep tonight. My eyes are really fubar and I haven't sleep for shit all week.

Tunnel of Love
1) Do you enjoy amusement park rides?I do not like spinning, so Disney's teacups and that sort of thing is right off any list, but rollercoasters I don't mind much. Water rides are fine, and I love merry-go-rounds and Ferris wheels. Heights don't bother me either.
2) In this song, Bruce likens romance to riding through the tunnel of love. The Red Hot Chili Peppers sing about a "Love Rollercoaster." What amusement park ride reminds you of your relationships?Let's go with that Ferris wheel concept.
3) Bruce's nickname is The Boss. Who was your best boss? What made him/her a good supervisor?My best boss was the one who retired about four years ago now. She was far from perfect but the good outweighed the bad in a big way. I always knew she had my back with problem patrons, and she stayed very calm under stress, which was lovely when I was the one stressing her. My current boss is shaping up to be pretty good too. {fingers crossed}
4) Bruce's father was a bus driver and his mother was a legal secretary. What professions did/do your parents work in?My mom worked as a county court clerk. My dad was a builder, and an architect, and a Realtor, not always at the same time.
5) Bruce met his wife Patti at a bar in Asbury Park. Do you believe you can pick up lasting love in a bar?Well, obviously, it does happen, yo.
6) Springsteen was unable to work for years because he was embroiled in a lawsuit with his management company. Have you ever been sued, or sued someone else?Yes.
7) Bruce won an Oscar for writing the title song for the Tom Hanks movie Philadelphia. Do you have a favorite Tom Hanks movie?I haven't seen most of them, but I'm kinda partial to "Castaway."
8) Bruce's official Twitter account (@springsteen) has more than 389,000 followers. Do you tweet? If so, how many people follow you?I have a Twitter account that mostly goes unused. It's too distracting.
9) Bruce's drummer, Mighty Max Weinberg, led the band on The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien. Who do you think is funnier -- Conan or Jay Leno? Or are you looking forward to Jimmy Fallon?
I don't watch any of these shows, have not watched them except accidentally since Johnny retired. They are really not funny. To me.

1) What is one food you will never give up? Complex carbohydrates. Bread, to be specific.
2) Would you be willing to eat a bowl of live crickets for $40,000?Nope.
3) You have just been granted the power to make anyone in the world do something each day. Who would you choose, and what would you make him or her do daily? I would make people do something kind for someone else, something that would not really benefit the person doing it, but would meet a major need of the recipient. The doer could choose anything; I'm not that much of a control freak.
4) Show and Tell. What comes to mind first when you see this picture? Or, tell a story if it reminds you of one.

1) Have you ever been in a car accident? What happened? I've been in a couple of scary situations but never collided with anyone (or vice versa) or anything.
2) Have you ever been in a play? If so, do you remember any of your lines? I was a Hamelin rat in 3rd or 4th grade, no lines. In high school, I was in the pit orchestra for a couple of musicals, and I can sing my parts but not play them anymore.
3) How often do you go to the park? What do you usually there? I eat lunch in the park 3 or 4 times a month, at least. Sometimes you just need to get out of Dodge for a few minutes, y'know?
4) Show and Tell. What comes to mind first when you see this picture? Or, tell a story if it reminds you of one.
Public Domain PhotoIt looks like potpourri parts. I wonder what the scent is, though I'd bet on cinnamon being involved since I think those rolled tubular things are cinnamon sticks. It looks kind of fall-like too. But what are all those other things...?

1) If you could have any view in the world visible from your bed, what would it be? Easy-peasy: the San Juan mountains in southwestern Colorado.
2) What's the first movie you remember ever seeing in a theater? Tora! Tora! Tora! I was about 6. WHAT were my parents thinking??
3) What's the most difficult confession you've ever had to make? To myself? There are several contenders.
Out loud, to others? Probably that I am too selfish to want to go through childbirth again. It's not a biggie now, but at the time it was pretty trying. It's either that, or the first time I admitted that I needed to see a counselor; it goes against my grain to think I can't fix everything.
4) Show and Tell. What comes to mind first when you see this picture? Or, tell a story if it reminds you of one.
Public Domain PhotoSo, a guy playing trombone in a park. Hmmm, don't think I've ever personally seen this, not just one guy by himself. I bet it would be lovely though; I do love the sound of a well-played trombone. Now I want to go sit in the park--it's a beautiful day for it but I doubt there'll be any musicians. Not around here: random music in the park really only happens in urban settngs I think.
