Curious as a Cat

(Link in meme-roll)

1) Have you ever felt like you were competing with someone close to you for the affection of the same woman or man?
Hmm, no. Well, ok, maybe my siblings, I suppose, but I don't think that counts. I don't consider romantic love a competitive sport.
2) What secret would you really like to share with your dad or mom, but don’t feel as if you can?
There were SO MANY things I couldn't share with my folks, specifically my mom. Now it's either too late, or she found it all out, depending on what happens after death.
3) What's your 'guilty pleasure' TV show?
I guess Ghost Whisperer qualifies. It's pure crap, but I can't stop watching.
4) Show and Tell. What comes to mind first when you see this picture? Or, tell a story if it reminds you of one.

My first thought was "guys boxed in THAT?" followed quickly by "He's so tiny!" and then "Stop looking at that and giggling, silly old woman!"

Comptetition

You Are Not Competitive
There is not a competitive bone in your body. Competition doesn't hold much appeal for you.

If anything, you are only likely to compete with yourself. What other people do doesn't matter to you.

While it's generally healthy to not be competitive, you may want to step up from time to time.

Competition can be motivating and fun. Even if you lose, you'll learn a lot about yourself.
So...this couldn't be more WRONG! I actually am pretty competitive. So, yeah.

Hacked!

1. When did someone last break something of yours?
Beast broke the console thingy in my truck this week. Can't trust that man with anything! :-)
2. When did you last play hackysack, if ever?
I've tried a couple of times, but I suck. It's been at least a year since my last (failed) attempt.
3. What was your most dramatic haircut like?
In 1995, I had my shoulder-length hair cut VERY short--like 2" long. It just seemed the thing to do. The actual style wasn't all that dramatic, but cutting it all off was! It occurs to me that my mid-back-length hair to shoulder-length cut in 9th grade was pretty stark too.
4. Hacking is basically breaking through the security that protects a computer or a website. What’s the closest you’ve come to doing something similar in real life?
Uh...not. Nothing. I don't even download legal songs off the net. Busting things is not my idea of a party.
5. In the world of stand-up comedy, a hack is a comic who steals jokes from other comics. Have you ever known a hack in your own field?
Oh, yeah. Who hasn't? On the other hand, I'm pretty willing to share, since cataloging is pretty mutual. Librarianing in general is mutual. "Hey, you stole my reference answer!" Yeah, not so much, eh?

Curious as a Cat

(Link in blogroll)

1) What is the most abnormal thing about yourself?
The dichotomy between what my friends tell me about myself, and what I think of myself.
2) What is the ugliest outfit you ever remember wearing?
I was not in love with the outfit I wore at my niece's wedding last year. And there were all those homemade clothes I had to wear as a child.
3) If you could physically destroy one thing, what would it be and how would you do it?
I don't know how I'd do it, but I'd like to remove all knowledge of nuclear bombs (and the bombs themselves) from humanity.
4) When were you closest to being a champion?
When I was in school, I always felt like a champion in terms of academics.
5) Show and Tell. What comes to mind first when you see this picture? Or, tell a story if it reminds you of one.

I chose this photo several months ago because it reminded me then of winter. I'm so sick of winter now. Ironically, however, my best friend LOVES penguins. Jenny has known me longer than Beast, and has been a comfort to me oodles of times in the past. She called me Saturday evening and told me that her father died Saturday morning after a very bad week in the hospital (fortunately he was unconscious for all of it). So, these penguins today are bittersweet instead of just cute.
