Friday 5

Drama
  1. What was the last stage play you saw?
I believe it was probably something at Sparky's high school. Which is just plain sad. We need to support local theater better. Maybe season tickets this fall?
  2. Which film genres do you like most, and which least?
I can't watch horror or intense psychological stuff. I love comedies and musicals.
  3. Why do some people seem always to have some kind of drama in their lives, while others apparently have very little?
Because that's what they create for themselves. I know that sounds victim-blaming, but it's just that often people expect what they've always had around them; it's normal.
  4. One element of classic tragedy is the hero’s tragic flaw. What’s yours?
    My mouth.
  5. What are some lines of a play’s or film’s dialogue you can recite from memory?
I mostly know movie quotes that are sung. So:

Oh, why can't the English learn to set a good example to people whose English is painful to your ears?
The Scotch and the Irish leave you close to tears.
There even are places where English completely disappears.
Well, in America, they haven't used it for years!
Why can't the English teach their children how to speak?
Norwegians learn Norwegian; the Greeks are taught their Greek.
In France every Frenchman knows his language from "A" to "Zed"
The French never care what they do, actually, as long as they pronounce it properly.

Blogthings

Your Perfect Afternoon is Creative
Your head is full of visions and inspirations, and you like to make those beautiful thoughts a reality as often as you can.

For you, there is nothing better than having the time and space to create. You love an empty canvas of any sort.

You mostly create for yourself, and you love the satisfaction of making something exactly how you want to make it.

Whether it's crafting, writing, or producing art, you never have trouble filling up a spare afternoon.
Not really so much. I do not consider myself overly creative.

You Are a Modern Font
You are always looking towards the future, and new technologies excite you.

You are very fashionable and on trend. You are curious about what's new in the world.

You are very smart
, but you're not a nerd. If anything, you are more geek chic!

Good fonts for you include: Infinity, Eurostyle, Majoram, Matchbook, and Politica
Pretty close, except that fashion and chic thing. I do like those fonts.

Your Theater Type is Intellectual
More than anything else, you like theater that tells a good story - one with great writing, an engaging plot, and well developed characters.

You like theater that makes you think... and feel. All it takes is some good dialog and acting for you to enjoy a play.

You love a play where you're hanging on every word. You are big on suspense and character development.

Your favorite theater makes you look at the world a whole new way. That's not too much to ask, is it?
Bingo!!

1) What do you think of 3D movies?
I have yet to see one of the newer kind. I'm not a fan generally--the glasses give me a horrible case of motion sickness--and I don't see the need for me to be IN the movie. I got to watch, not participate.
2) If you could learn one extreme sport for free, what would it be?
Since there is literally no way this will every happen, I've always thought street luge looked like a complete blast, and dangerous as HELL!
3) What nearby museums, galleries, or theaters are your favorites?
There is a local (live) theater that was built about 125 years ago and has been refurbished and kept fairly current with lights and staging. The theater companies that use it do a nice job, but we haven't been to a show in a long time. Maybe I should see about season tickets this year.... There's a train museum fairly close by, but no actual art galleries of note. However, we're a mere 90-minute train ride from one of the world's biggest cities full of almost all the art, architecture, museums, and theater I could want.
4) Show and Tell. What comes to mind first when you see this picture? Or, tell a story if it reminds you of one.

I really love butterflies. Just pictures--in real life they sort of scare me, although not as much as moths.

Ill Fits
  1. What item in your wardrobe do you wish was better-fitting?
  2. Pretty much everything, yo. I'm working on trying to get back into some of my old capris and prettier blouses, but at this rate they'll be woefully out of fashion.
  3. What role in a play, musical, or television program would be a terrible fit for you but is still something you wish you could try?
  4. Anything from "A Chorus Line"--I can't dance at all, but oh, would I especially love to play Diana.
  5. Which furnishing in your home clashes most with the others, for whatever reason?
  6. Everything in my house clashes with everything else; we don't shop to match. Right now I'm looking at my dining room chairs--square tops, solid wood top to bottom--and the chairs at the counter in the kitchen--rounded tops, relatively cheaply made. Oh, well, they are the same color at least. We have tables in the living room that are three different 'shades' of wood, none of which actually match the built-in cupboards.
  7. What item in your possession are you using for something other than its intended purpose?
  8. I'm using the couch as a table for the granola I just finished...does that count?
  9. What's something others expect of you that you are just not comfortable with?
  10. Being normal, conforming. I have a hard time taking orders, or following 'suggestions', about normal behavior.

1) Have you ever been in a car accident? What happened?
I've been in a couple of scary situations but never collided with anyone (or vice versa) or anything.
2) Have you ever been in a play? If so, do you remember any of your lines?
I was a Hamelin rat in 3rd or 4th grade, no lines. In high school, I was in the pit orchestra for a couple of musicals, and I can sing my parts but not play them anymore.
3) How often do you go to the park? What do you usually there?
I eat lunch in the park 3 or 4 times a month, at least. Sometimes you just need to get out of Dodge for a few minutes, y'know?
4) Show and Tell. What comes to mind first when you see this picture? Or, tell a story if it reminds you of one.

It looks like potpourri parts. I wonder what the scent is, though I'd bet on cinnamon being involved since I think those rolled tubular things are cinnamon sticks. It looks kind of fall-like too. But what are all those other things...?
