Blog Challenge

I'm going to try something I have resisted for years because I really hate rules. But on the other hand, I have really let the ol' blog(s) slide, so I need a boost to force me to post more consistently. So without further ado, I present the 30-Day Blog Challenge. I've seen it a couple of places, but Kwizgiver is the one I'm pointing to since maybe it'll keep me honest if I know someone else who is doing it. And also, the questions aren't entirely inane.

I will be posting most of these answers only at my regular blog, just for novelty, so feel free to visit. That way I can keep the regular memes here and make it easier to find my challenge posts. Or something like that....

I'm an idiot

In all the kerfuffle around Google Reader going belly up, I managed to lose the feed for the comments for this blog. So I haven't been reading them, nor have I been responding to them. My abject and sincere apologies to those who have been ignored for the past month. I have resolved the problem (I hope).

Next problem is figuring out how to recreate the Memeroll, which is currently linked to GReader and will die in about 6 weeks. ...sigh

Blog News

No, I haven't died. Life is just a little hectic lately, plus I've found a new Facebook addiction game that has turned into a time-suck of gigantic proportions.

I hope to restart blogging this week. No more dropping soccer balls!! I have to stop....

Down Time

In case you hadn't noticed, I've been fading in and out here lately. There are several reasons, but the main one is that Beast's back has gotten bad. Very bad. I just don't have the energy for meming: most of my relaxing time is spent catching up on Facebook, and reading/puzzling (crossword or Sudoku).

Beast is finally scheduled for surgery next Monday. Sparky is due home from college next week, too. It's going to be a rather frantic few days. I'm hoping that the surgery resolves the worst of Beast's pain, and Sparky finds a job, or at least is around enough to help me carry some of the household load.

Short-term, however, I'm not really going to be here much. Except for really brainless, short memes. If that.

This blog will be on hiatus until next Tuesday, Jan. 24, as I busy myself with all things Library-related at the ALA Midwinter conference. I'll be back.

No, I'm not dead, or even sick (unless you count allergies that are eating me alive). Life is currently kicking my ass around the block.


I live in hope that I will return to the memes. With any hope, that will be soon.

OK, all the comments from all the memes I did this week just posted in Google Reader in the past half hour. So, my apologies for not replying to any of them all week. Stupid RSS feed must've borked.


Incidentally, I make be a little less active for the next few weeks. We'll see how things go.

Interruption in Service

The Good News: We finally have (some) electricity.

The Not-So-Good News: We were knocked out Monday morning and are still officially off-the-grid, running on a generator. Which means my online time is pretty limited. It's been an adventure! I'll be back with the regular meming in a couple of days. I hope.

I'm on an extended Time-Out; in fact as this post goes live, I'm in my Time-Out Chair in the Sky. There will be more pressing, less electronic things for me to do in the next couple of weeks that involve attendance at a family wedding, standing in line to gape at Renaissance art in situ, and eating lots of gelato. Also faffing about in various airports. Yuck.

My blood pressure has been up all day about this blog.

I've added a page of "Standards" (i.e. rules) to the top of the sidebar. 99.9% of you won't need to read it. I've been doing memes for over 6 years now and in that time, I've only been this upset one other time, and in that case it was about the rules another person had for how she did memes. In the end, I walked away from her blog because I just thought it was silly, but it was her blog, thus her rules. 

Read those last 7 words again. Got the point? Yeah, moving on then... 

I want to be clear: I have not censored anyone's freedom of speech here: no comments were deleted. Maybe I'm overreacting due to some issues IRL that require me to behave with a certain level of tact and even deference. In 6 months, I may read this and roll my eyes at myself, but TODAY I AM ROYALLY PISSED OFF!

Walking into someone's house as a stranger to them and telling them what they can't say is simply discourteous. Is that clear enough for you? You can always leave the exact same way you came in. Feel free.
