Sunday Stealing

(Link in meme-roll)
Shannon's Moments Meme, Part One
I kinda just did this a couple of weeks ago, but it's enough different that I'll do it again.

1. Do you like blue cheese?
Not alone, but with some other goodies (steak, etc.) it's dynamite!
2. Have you ever smoked cigarettes? If yes, how did you quit?
No, thank God I never started. I'm virtually certain I'd never have been able to stop.
3. Do you own a gun? How are your feelings about gun control/2nd Amendment rights?
I do not, because I know myself well enough to know exactly how dangerous that would be. I am not anti-gun, however. If you like hunting, or collecting armament, fine. I just do not see any reason for ANYone to own a functional auto or semi-auto. There's only one use for them, and it ain't dead-heading peonies!
4. What is your favorite flavor of water or liquor flavors?
I like my water plain old water-flavored, preferably not overly chlorinated. I like my liquor fairly flavorless generally too. Plain Stoli, maybe a lime twist, is sufficient. I really can't do extremely sweet drinks at all anymore...shudder.
5. Do you get nervous before a doctor visit? Why?
Nope. Serves no purpose except to make my blood pressure rise, which isn't helpful. I figure, by the time I've committed to seeing the doctor, I've already decided I need help solving whatever problem I've got at the moment.
This is all despite the fact that I actively hated going to the doctor as a child since it seemed to always involve an injection for something or other. And the doc was super-creepy. If I ever get that vibe off anyone now, I'm outta there.
6. How do you like your hot dogs?
Cold straight out of the package. If we're talking about food-truck dogs then no relish, heavy mustard, and some onions. I'll get ketchup too, unless I'm in Chi-town where it's pretty much illegal.
7. Although it’s been asked a lot, tell us about a favorite movie that you haven’t shared before.
I can't think of a movie that I haven't talked about. I don't really see that many movies, not compared to most people, so I go to the very few I love regularly to answer this. I've always liked "Fiddler on the Roof" mostly for the cinematography, and after actually seeing Siberia, it's even more amazing. Ditto for "Dr. Zhivago" a movie in which I could happily turn off the volume and watch in silence.
8. What do you prefer to drink in the morning?
Diet caffeinated pop. More caffeine = more better.
9. In a dating situation, have you ever misrepresented yourself to seem cooler or hipper? (Yes we know for most of you it was long ago…)
Of course. I never in my life felt hip or cool, but who admits that to someone they're interested in impressing??
10. What’s your favorite piece of jewelry? Why?
I have a necklace my mom's best childhood friend gave me that she got while she was a missionary in Persia (Iran) in the 50s. It is mother-of-pearl, painted with two different scenes--one on either side--and too large and an odd-length for most outfits. I love it to death though. I love it for its own sake, but also because it reminds me of Mom and N. and how weirdly the world changes--N. gave it to me in about 1979, just before the Iranian Hostage Crisis commenced; I loved wearing it as a stealth thing that people who were yelling about killing all Iranians wouldn't/didn't get.
11. Favorite hobby? Tell us about it so we understand it.
I read. A lot. Because my life is terminally boring--and that's fine--and I like to crawl inside other people's heads and see what motivates them. One of the books I'm reading right now, The Home for Wayward Clocks is reminding me that this is one of the best parts of reading. All the everyday people doing everyday things that seem so outlandish to me, but not to them.
12. Do you have A.D.D., or have you suspected it?
Nope. Except in the sense that I am rarely ever doing just one thing anymore. It's blogging-and-TV-watching, music-and-cataloging, conversation-and-cooking.
13. What’s a thing you dislike or would change about yourself?
I need to do better about thinking further ahead than the next half hour on the Really Big Stuff in Life. I tend to be a little hedonistic and don't properly plan things out. Which, if you knew what my calendar looked like, would surprise you, I'm sure.
14. Middle name? Like it or not?
I have one. I like it. It's short, succinct, and uncommon, though hardly rare. Y'all have definitely heard of it. There's a very famous doctor that has made it more accessible. I've always been glad, secretly, that it wasn't "the" middle name that all the (popular) girls in high school seemed to have.
15. Name three random thoughts you might have on this week:
I might never catch up on cataloging at work, but I have nearly run myself out of project-work. Beast has 7 days, which is worth celebrating. It's beautiful outside today, tempting me to go out and sit on the porch which will undoubtedly lead to me feeling absolutely shitty later. (see above re thinking ahead)
16. Name 3 drinks you regularly drink. Tell us a bit about them.
I regularly drink dark diet soda, water, and pretty much nothing else. Occasional glasses of white soda when I'm feeling like I need to de-caffeinate closer to bedtime.
17. Current worry:
I'm weaning myself away from incessant worrying. I am, however, starting to think about what I'm wearing for this upcoming wedding, and what else I should be taking for the trip. Also on my mind is what Sparky needs to take, WHICH IS RIDICULOUS because HE IS 23 and I don't need to pack for him anymore!!! And this is why I have to stop worrying about stuff; it's almost always just about this stupid.
18. Current annoyance:
I can't think of anything that annoying right now. Overall, I would say that there is a large rash of idiotic behavior on the Big World Stage right now, and I'm so very sick of idiots.
19. Favorite place to be in the summer? Give us a wee bit more than “the beach”.
Well, in my case it's not the beach; it's the mountains. Any mountaintop, a ways away from "civilization" with wildflowers, sunshine, and rarefied air. I'm not fussy. I haven't had anything of this sort in a very long time and I'm craving it.
20. How do you usually ring in the new year? If forced (how we’d do that without Judd coming to your house, if you even know who he was) to do something new, what would it be?
I don't do anything very exciting. We stay home. Often we fondue. I'm usually in bed either well before midnight or not too long after. I have no interest whatever in hanging out or driving near drunks, so yeah.
21. What have you done this summer that’s special? Pictures please.
I haven't done anything this summer to speak of. Our vacations this year are April and September, so the summer has been 13 weeks of work. That's fine. But I don't got pix.
22. Have you ever walked into a room with just shoes on?
Well, if shower shoes count as shoes, then yes.

Sit Right Down And Write Myself A Letter Meme

When was the last time you wrote a letter to someone on paper?
It's been a very long time. I (hand)write notes to Beast fairly often, but I can't tell you the last time I sent a letter--not a store-bought card with my signature--in the mail.
Can you change the oil on a car?
I could if I wanted to, but I'd really rather just pay someone to do it if/when Beast stops taking care of it.
Ever gotten a speeding ticket?
Yup. No clue if I was actually speeding, but since then I am careful to set my cruise control for the exact speed limit on that road.
Run out of gas?
Nope. Not quite, though I've been within a few miles of it more than once.
Favorite kind of sandwich?
Roast beef with horseradish and swiss on wheat bread. Or flat cheese and potato chip on white bread with butter.
Best thing to eat for breakfast?
Donuts.
What is your usual bedtime?
It hovers around 9, but I almost always read or do puzzles for awhile before I sleep.
Are you lazy?
For sure. I'm the queen of this!
When you were a kid, what did you dress up as for Halloween?
I remember a clown costume and a rabbit costume vividly and absolutely nothing else. I know I was costumed every year though.
Do you have any magazine subscriptions?
I do. I still get Ms., Entertainment Weekly, and a Presbyterian Church publication.
Which are better, Legos or Lincoln Logs?
Lincoln Logs, but only if they're wooden!
Are you stubborn?
Oh my God, yes!
Who is better…Leno or Letterman?
Uhm. Aren't they both gone now? I didn't really care for either of their shows.
Ever watch soap operas?
Not for 25 years.
Afraid of heights?
Nope.
Sing in the car?
All the time.
Dance in the shower?
This seems very dangerous. No.
Dance in the car?
Yes. Also dangerous, but I'm careful.
Ever used a gun?
Not a real one.
Do you think musicals are cheesy?
I LOVE musicals!! The cheesier the better.
Is Christmas stressful?
Yes!!
Ever eat a pierogi?
Uh, yeah. I've been to Milwaukee and other places where lots of Polish people settled back in the day.
Major annoyance right now?
Beast's health tops everything. It's like a freaking brush fire: neck fixed, shoulder flares and subsides, week-long flu bug, self-pity, numb fingers, post-nasal drip that never ends, alcohol more or less off the table (he says), depression, soreness from PT or therapeutic massage, achy joints from weather weirdness, sinus problems develop into an endless cough, complete lack of stamina, minor Lyme disease, and now we've spotted another bulging disc in this thoracic region! That doesn't even get into the glucose and blood-sugar issues. So basically, I'm married to an 80-year-old.
Occupations you wanted to be when you were a kid?
Grocery checker, teacher, the usual girl stuff, and writer of course.
Do you believe in ghosts?
I believe in something like ghosts.

Friday 5

(Link in meme-roll)
SW: TFA
(inspired by a certain movie I finally saw, with no spoilers)
  1. When did you last wear a lei (or something similar)?
I had on an infinity scarf yesterday at work, and I pretty much always have a long woolly scarf on when I'm outside these days. Otherwise, neckwear is not a big priority for me.
  2. What are your thoughts on organically grown produce?
I'm all for it in theory, but I live in farm country and I know that on a big-scale farm, organic is ... difficult. And that's if you can agree on a definition of "organic" in the first place!
  3. Which Goldie Hawn movies have you seen?
Uhm...I don't know of any, honestly? I don't go out of my way to see her, though I don't dislike her. Just not my thing, I guess. Was she in Witches of Eastwick?
  4. What’s something you’ve recently and reluctantly flown solo on?
Work is turning into very much of a solo flight every day lately, in many ways. For the first time in years, I seriously looked at house prices and jobs in Colorado in a serious way. We could swing it, but not anywhere near Denver.
  5. What experience do you have with BB or pellet guns?
Only in the praying for no injuries when Sparky and Jet used to have Airsoft wars every Saturday. Sparky's first time out, he came home with a big bruise/goose-egg just below his eyebrow; he'd very nearly had his eye shot out. He wore his science safety goggles after that.

Hodgepodge Questions

(Link in meme-roll)

1. Did you watch The Charlie Brown Christmas special Monday night? Who's your favorite Peanuts character and why?
We didn't watch it (I pretty much never do anymore), but I love Linus deeply and truly, but and Schroeder is just adorable. [ETA: too many buts]
"Most psychiatrists agree that sitting in a pumpkin patch is excellent therapy for a troubled mind." ~ Linus Would you agree?
Yes. Today I need a big pumpkin patch with absolutely no people in it, just dogs, a blanket, and a box of Kleenex.
2. Describe a sound from your childhood. What does this sound bring to mind?
There are times when I really wish we had a piano. The sound of noodling around on a slightly out-of-tune piano ... I miss that. Electronic keyboards are not the same.
3. You've won a trip to a winter wonderland...would that excite you? Which one of the following would you most want to experience (or which one would you dislike the least) - see the Aurora Borealis in Norway, stay in Sweden's Ice Hotel, go dogsledding in Lapland Finland, take a winter wildlife safari in Yellowstone or celebrate Winter Carnival in Quebec?
I would love to see the Ice Hotel, and going dogsledding sounds fun (for about 10 minutes). I'd love to go for another troika ride too; scroll down to Lake Baikal for the one I've been on. It was delightful and having latkes and vodka and doing the Chicken Dance around a blazing fire with Russians was surreal and hilarious.
4. Who or what keeps you humble?
I'm pretty capable of humiliating myself myself, but should I need help my family and friends stand ready to burst my balloon of self-importance.
5. What part of preparing for Christmas do you like the most? Explain.
I do like decorating the tree, now that we have a pre-lit one, but I have a hard time motivating myself to get started.
6. Gingerbread - yay or nay? Is making a gingerbread house part of your family holiday tradition?
Nope. Not a fan. Not at all. I mean, I'll eat some if its offered but I can totally live without it.
7. What's one thing you want to start, do, or complete before the calendar rolls into a new year?
Well, shopping and wrapping needs doing, eh? And it would be nice if Beast could get through a day without crying in pain a few times before 2016 commences.
8. Insert your own random thought here.
I am sick unto illness over the latest mass shooting. What the hell? Today is the first day I really feel like I live in Israel, in a police state, in a place where I am eminently unsafe in the world, since 9/11 and that was just flat-out panic and hysteria. I'm not panicking--this happened thousands of miles from me today--but there are far FAR too many ARMED nutjobs out there in the world. I realize that others in this country are in more danger on a moment-by-moment basis than me, but who the HELL shoots up and tries to bomb a disabled adult work-site?! Or, an elementary school? Or a health clinic (oh, wait that's been going on for multiple decades, no news there, really--pay attention people).....or a post office (oh wait...), or a fucking SPA?! Jesus God the world has lost its mind!
Also, hey, all you CC-licensed people: you are not living up to your promises of keeping the rest of us safe. Get with it or turn in your fucking guns, morons*.

Friday 5

(Link in meme-roll)
Goings On
  1. What’s an issue you wish more people knew about?
HELLP syndrome. My niece nearly died as a result of it, and she lost her first child as part of the situation. Everything was fine, until it wasn't.
  2. When were you last outraged about something?
I'm outraged every night as I post the latest gun violence statistics on my Facebook page. There've been over 200 shootings this week. Did you know that??
  3. When you were a kid, what was the first news story to make an impression on you?
The earliest news thing I'm pretty sure I remember was the Moon Landing in 1969. I sort of remember some drama earlier than that, but nothing I can name for sure. And the Munich Olympics are extremely clear. My sister Jean got married that month.
  4. What’s getting far too much media attention lately?
Anything and everything to do with presidential elections. We have over a year before we need to make a decision. Can't we just STFU about it for six months or so? Ugh.
  5. What’s a consumer product you’d recommend to others?
Dealing with CruiseAmerica was just wonderful. The RV we rented was pristine and worked perfectly, it was all explained, and our changing plans didn't faze them too much. They had warned us ahead that there would be no refund for early return, but we knew where to take it to be cleaned professionally, and we did get money back on miles we didn't use. If you've any interest in trying out RVing, do use these guys.

...a long distance out of the way...

(Swiped from Amy)

What's the best piece of advice anyone has ever given you?
A version of "not my circus, not my monkeys" that involved snakes about 10 years ago. I have to re-hear it regularly as I'm prone in sticking my nose into things it would be better off out of. [Grammar is my friend...]
If a loved one was to serenade you, what song would you most like them to sing?
Whatever song they'd like. However, I must stipulate that they can at least bring a bucket in which to carry a tune in. Beast can't sing at all, and Sparky isn't quite there yet either.
Would you ever let your parents pick out a partner for you?
Nope, and it's too late now. And they wouldn't've anyway. I'm more likely to listen to their advice as I get older, however, which is somewhat ironic now that I can't.
Michelangelo's David...masterpiece or filth?
"Filth" because he's naked? Please, get over your penis-phobia! And it's an amazing work of art. I will never forget my first sight of it in the Accademia in 1985. Astounding, jaw-dropping, un-fucking-believable.
Do you like other people buying you clothes?
Depends on the article of clothing. Sometimes its spot on, something I love and will wear. More often it's weird or the wrong size. My mom, funnily enough, chose good things for me even after multiple strokes until she stopped shopping because ... stuff got hard. No one else has matched her prowess. :'(
What one device would you want to see added to a mobile phone?
I just got a new phone and I can't think of a thing it doesn't have, except a "louder" (i.e., more noticeable) vibrate feature. I guess I'll just have to turn up the volume and annoy my coworkers with sounds.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years' time?
I'll be nearly 62. Probably still at least 5 years from full-benefits retirement, as they've raised the age for state employment vestment to 67. I hope I can make it that long. Honestly, I don't know what I'll do if/when I retire. Maybe I'll have grandkids, or at least a daughter-in-law, by then? I'm not holding my break. I love Sparky to death, but right now he's a bit of a know-it-all/spaz.
Do your dreams ever tell you to do anything?
Not really in the sense of ordering me around. My dreams often 'reinterpret' what's been going on in my waking life and help me sort out the important stuff. Or just point out the Tragically Weird. And often I wake up thinking, "Why in hell was I obsessing all night about (this week) making sure Sparky gets a checking account??" Which we did this morning.
Have you ever been to an Art gallery?
Uhm, yes. Of course. There was one on my college campus, right by the dining room. Many libraries I've been in have had small galleries attached. Mine does, now, for instance. Starbucks even has gallery space to rent! And of course museums too. Endless hallways inside the Vatican come to mind, full of so much art it seems almost obscene that what we're seeing is "just the good stuff." And some Native galleries in various locales...Vegas, Arizona, Minnesota.
Do you shout out the answers at the TV whilst watching quiz shows?
I've been known to mutter. And occasionally, when contestants are ridiculously dumb, I have shouted. I don't watch too many of them anymore, though.
Are you a valuable asset on a Pub Quiz team?
Probably, but since I don't hang out in pubs, or anyplace where there's regular trivia contests it's not been a thing. No one I know is willing to play Trivial Pursuit with me anymore, though, even the smarty-smart people of my acquaintance. Sad face.
If you could bankrupt one person or company who would it be?
Weapons manufacturers and dealers. This song is a bit extreme, but the gist of it works for me.
If you could steal one thing without consequence what would it be?
Babies for snuggles. Until they start doing the stinky-screamy thing and then they go right back to their parents.
Something I'd steal and keep? Maybe all the handguns in the world...and throw them into an active volcano.

Saturday 9

(Link in meme-roll)
Whenever I Call You "Friend"

1) How did you meet your best friend?
I met Jen the first day of college band rehearsal; we both played flute. I met Beast not too long after that when he showed up in my dorm room looking for my roommate with whom he shared Chemistry class (to flirt with her). I met Amy at a Data Processing (now Cataloging) Committee meeting when her library was joining our consortium.
2) Mother Winters used to say she loved all us kids equally, but at various times she liked one of us more than the others. Does your "friend ranking" ever shift? Or is the person you think of today as your best friend always #1?
Obviously, I have more than one best friend so there's some shifting around among them sometimes. I don't really rank them anyway.
3) What makes you a good friend?
I'm honest, extremely loyal and try hard to be kind.
4) Think back to your childhood -- what games did you and your friends like to play?
There were few kids in my neighborhood. As a very young child, when there were kids around, most of the games revolved around "playing house" as I recall, or chasing each other around. Later, there was Frisbie, jumping rope, jacks, cars, hide-and seek, etc.
5) Would you rather lose your hair, or the little toe on your left foot? (Yes, you must commit to giving one up.)
Hair. There are always wigs.
6) Think of the phrase, "like nails on a blackboard." What is your least favorite sound?
Screaming. Shrieking.
7) Do you add fabric softener to your wash or place a softener sheet in the dryer?
No. We haven't used fabric softeners of any kind since Sparky had a skin reaction when he was about 6 months old. That would be 20 years, for those keeping track.
8) Showtime, HBO, or neither?
We have HBO. Beast likes Bill Maher. I don't care either way.
9) Have you ever fired a gun?
Not a real one. This is on my bucket list. I've already put my order in my my eldest nephew for this, but he's a little busy.

Rock 'n Roll Fridays

(Link in meme-roll)
We will ask you thirteen questions each and every Friday. But our little "twist" is that each week we will pick an singer, band, era or category and pick thirteen of their lyrics. Today we picked Bob Dylan. The song titles are in bold caps and the lyrics are in bold. Here's Rock 'n Roll Fridays!

1. TIMES THEY ARE A CHANGIN’ “And there’s no tellin’ who that it’s namin’ for the loser now will be later to win, For the times they are a changin’”
What would you do or play at a Casino?
I play video poker, mostly. Occasionally, slots, but they bore the shit outta me.
2. ON DESOLATION ROW “To her, death is quite romantic, She wears an iron vest. Her profession’s her religion, her sin is her lifelessness”
What was the worst job you ever had?
I temped one summer and several of the office jobs I was sent to were afraid to let me actually do anything, so I sat around for 8 hours with nothing to do. How dumb is that.
3. DON’T THINK TWICE IT’S ALLRIGHT “I ain’t sayin you treated me unkind, you could have done better but I don’t mind. You just kinda wasted my precious time. Don’t think twice it’s all right”
How do you waste your time besides memes?
Facebook, and the infrequent (of late) nap.
4. IT AIN’T ME BABE “You say you’re lookin for someone, never weak but always strong. To protect you an’ defend you whether you are right or wrong. Someone to open each and every door, It ain’t me babe”
What traits make up the ideal mate for you?
Sense of humor, smart, stable (no drama), family I can stand, patience, God has to be in there somewhere...
5. JUST LIKE A WOMAN “She takes just like a woman, yes she does, she makes love just like a woman, yes she does, and she aches just like a woman, but she breaks just like a little girl”
What woman would make a great president?
Molly Ivins would have ROCKED...sigh. I dunno--I'm not sure I'd want to destroy anyone by wishing this on them. On the other hand, Elizabeth Edwards has been through everything else; why not this too?
6. KNOCKIN ON HEAVEN’S DOOR “Mama put my guns in the ground I can’t shoot them anymore, that long black cloud is comin’ down, I feel like I’m knockin’ on Heaven’s door”
Have you ever fired a rifle, handgun or other firearm?
Not yet. My nephew has promised to take me to the range one of these days with one of his many firearms.
7. LIKE A ROLLING STONE “You used to laugh about everybody that was hangin’ out, Now you don’t seem so proud, about havin’ to scrounge for your next meal”
Have you ever been on Welfare (the Dole), or collected Unemployment Insurance Benefits?
Nope. I was fully unpaid when I was unemployed, otherwise known as being a Stay-At-Home-Mom.
8. MAGGIE’S FARM “Everybody says she’s the brains behind Pa, She’s 68 but says she’s 24”
When was the last time you lied about your age?
I have said that I've already turned the age I will be in November many times over the last few months. I know that doesn't make any sense...oh, well. I don't really lie about my age.
9. MR TAMBORINE MAN “Hey Mr Tamborine Man, play a song for me, I’m not sleepy and there is no place I’m goin’ to.”
Have you ever played a musical instrument?
I took piano lessons for about 3 years as a child, and played flute for my teenage years. Oh, and I play handbells at church.
10. ONE MORE CUP OF COFFEE “One more cup of coffee for the road. One more cup of coffee ‘for I go…to the valley below”
What brand of coffee do you drink and how do you take it?
The only thing I use coffee for is making (some) guests happy, and scenting the fridge/freezer.
11. ONE TOO MANY MORNINGS “Down the street the dogs are barkin’, and the day is getting’ dark. As the night comes in a fallin, The dogs ‘ll lose their bark”
When was the last time a dog barked near you?
We have loads of dogs in the neighborhood. Some of them bark a lot. I can't think of when I've been around a barking dog lately, however. It happens either too often or too rarely to notice.
12. SUBTERRANEAN HOMESICK BLUES “Look out kid, don’t matter what you did. Walk on your tip toes, don’t try NO DOZ, better stay away from those”
When you have to stay awake what do you do when you are very sleepy?
No-Doz is the only thing that has ever worked for me. That 5-Hour Energy stuff...doesn't work. Otherwise, it's roll the windows down, turn the music up, count forwards or backwards, have people talk to me....and eventually give up and pull off the road. If I'm not driving, I just keep moving around constantly. Standing, walking, running, NO sitting!
13. TANGLED UP IN BLUE “I was layin in bed wondrin if she’d changed at all. If her hair was still red…”
What color(s) has your hair been?
It started as light brown, darkened as I aged to dark brown, started turning gray at about age 20, and is now a combination of all those plus ash blonde and auburn.

Curious as a Cat

(Link at left)

If you discovered you had only one month to live, what would you do and who would you tell first?
First, I'd make sure my will and post-death affairs were in order, plan the funeral, etc. I'd tell Beast first of course. Then we'd tell Sparky together. And then I'd probably do a lot of writing or videoing, or blogging, to get everything down that needed to be said to others. I would also cry a lot.
Tell the truth: how do you feel about overweight people?
When I was skinny and it was easy to be skinny, I had a problem with overweight people. Now that I'm decidedly NOT skinny and finding it very difficult to be thinner--and also related to a lot of overweight people, I'm less judgmental. I do have issues about people who are really large, especially when I see them downing thousands of calories at a sitting, but.... Well, there but for the grace of God go I. And I noticed the last time we were overseas that Americans really are ginormous compared to (most) Europeans. What a thing to stand out for!
What guidelines do you think should exist for gun control?
I think background checks--thorough ones--should be required, whether they take minutes or weeks, for the purchase of all guns. I think there is no earthly reason for having more than two or three guns. If you are a collector, there's no reason to have ammo for the collectible guns, right? I think if you've been convicted of a violent crime, you should never, ever, be allowed near guns again. I think people who trade in guns (or any other killing machines, i.e., mines) in the black market should be imprisoned for the rest of their natural lives, and then some. For a clearer, more impassioned view of my feelings, these lyrics will help:
Warmongers, kill yourselves
Demonstrate the power of the product
That you're trying to sell
Gun wavers, shoot yourselves
Make a big hole in your head with a shiny shell
What's wrong with that kind of vision?
What's wrong with that kind of world?
If I suffered less from indecision
I'd stand on that platform myself
Chickenhawks, there's a cell
Down in hell, where you may fight aswell
If I may paraphrase John Lennon
Why fill this world with more pain and fear?
To every budding Mark Chapman
I offer these words most sincere
Warmongers, kill yourselves
Demonstrate the power of the product
That you're trying to sell
Gun wavers, shoot yourselves
Make a big hole in your head with a shiny shell
Do it yourself

Four for Friday

(Link at left)

Q1 - Sleep: Where is the most unusual place you've fallen asleep?
I can't really sleep if there's much ambient noise, so I can't think of anyplace too strange. I've dozed in airports, of course, and I sleep often while riding in the car. I've dropped off at work--alone in the workroom--though not in years (and not at my current workplace).
Q2 - Guns: Do you think blind people should be issued concealed weapons permits or be allowed to own guns?
For real? Who in hell thinks this is a good idea? I'd love to see the reasoning for this. My answer: no. Of course not. Then again, I think there ought to be an intelligence test for people purchasing guns, too....
Q3 - Driving: Taking into consideration errands and the drive to and from work, how many miles do you drive each weekday?
I run though a tank of gas in a week or so, so I'd estimate an average day adds around 40 miles. A round trip from home to work is about 20 miles.
Q4 - Packing: When do you pack for a trip (the day of, the night before, or earlier)?
I used to obsess for a week or more about what to take, what I had to be sure not to forget, etc. Now I can pack in about an hour. Beast has it down to 20 minutes.
