What is your favorite kitchen utensil and why?

I'm giggling, thinking about the spatula scene in "Stripes." Uh, hmm, I guess the .... [damn, this is bloodyHARD!] ... ok, the silcone stirrer (??not sure what to call it) with the hole in the middle that I bought in Germany. It's like a flat wooden spatula/spoon...hard to explain, but it mixes stuff on the stove better than anything else I've used, plus it can be used to scrape because it's flat on the bottom and doesn't get beat up like wooden utensils do. It's over six years old and looks nearly brand new.

What is the one thing that frightens you the most about growing old?

Loss of control over my life. This encompasses both the physical kind of control issues, but also losing independence, ability to make my own decisions sensibly, etc.
