Fantasy Friday

1. If you could have your dream home, what are 5 "must haves" that you would want it to include?

The house in which I live is pretty close to my dream home. The only thing I'd really change drastically would be the location: I'd prefer it to be in a sunnier climate. Note "sunnier." Does not have to be warmer, just more days of sunlight. Colorado would be perfect. Having said that, here's the stuff we are working on to make this house even dreamier:

1. Kill the carpet. We are installing wood/laminate floors this fall in the living room, dining room and our bedroom to cut down on the allergens.
2. A hot tub will be appearing at some point, probably in the place of a shower in the roughed-in basement bathroom.
3. Something must be done about the kitchen cabinets collecting dust on their tops. Beast is probably going to install soffits above all of them, with a plate rail around the top edge. The latter idea is 100% stolen from my sister's kitchen.
4. We need to decide on paint/wallpaper for the kitchen and powder room, and our bedroom and bathroom. They are still builder white! Maybe I'll hit the stores today for wallpaper books.
5. Some sort of "ceiling" for the basement. Not sure what to do about it at this point. We both hate dropped ceilings, but the pipes and ductwork are a little "unpretty."

2. If you could have your dream vehicle, what would it be?

A chocolate brown Jeep Cherokee, soft-top, and appropriate roads on which to drive it.

3. If you could change ONE thing about your life, what would it be and why?

I would have MUCH better self-control/self-discipline in every area from food to interpersonal interactions to scheduling to.... And I'd definitely prefer not to need to take anti-depressants for half the year!

4. If you could change ONE thing about the way you look, what would it be and why?

Hmmm....the easy answer is lose the extra weight. I'd like my teeth to be a uniform white. Uh, you know this is really not something that I spend a great deal of time thinking about. I'm not sure if it's because of age, inertia, or ADD; I just don't.

5. If you could be on a reality show (from Survivor to Dancing With the Stars to Top Chef), which one would you be on and why?

I'd be a judge. I have no interest in living in primitive conditions on an island (Survivor), a sealed-off house (Big Bro), or airports (TAR), but being a judge on AI or Dancing with the Stars....yeah, pretty cushy job.

6. If you could be in the audience of any talk show (from Dr. Phil to Jay Leno), which one would you choose and why?

Oprah. Hands down, no contest whatsoever. I don't know of anyone else who hands out money to the audience the way she does! :-)
