Weekend Musings

October 14

I'll bet you didn't know that this was National Dessert Month and today is National Dessert Day. So let's start off this week's musings with some food questions.

1. Share your favorite dessert with us. If you have a recipe for it, why not share it as well. (Unless, of course, it's a famous family secret. I've added one of mine at the end.)
This is from memory, so you may have to adjust the first two ingredients.
2 c. graham cracker crumbs
1/2 c. butter or margarine
1 c. chocolate chips
1 c. butterscotch chips
1 c. coconut
1 c. chopped pecans or walnuts
1 can sweetened condensed milk

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Melt butter and mix in the graham cracker crumbs. Place in 9 x 13" baking dish and press to cover bottom completely. Sprinkle the next 4 ingredients over the base and then pour the condensed milk as evenly as possible over the top of the rest of the ingredients.

Bake for 25-30 minutes. Let cool at least an hour or two before cutting into bite-size pieces. Check your blood sugar. Yum.
2. When you get a craving for something sweet, what is it?
Well, I'll have a couple of those 7-layer bars now that I've talked about them.
3. One of my favorite late night snacks is Pringles and Devil's Food Cookies. I have to take a bite of the Devil's Food Cookie and then stuff a Pringle in there with it. Do you have any odd snack ideas?
Nothin' like that! hee The weirdest thing I can think of is my occasional craving for bread with butter and flat-cheese, and potato chips inside with the cheese. I don't do that often, though, because I never buy potato chips.

4. Now for something completely off base. Do you believe in ghosts? Have you seen a ghost?
Not really. I've never seen one.
5. FAA Restricts Manhattan Flight Path: What was your first thought when you heard about Corey Lidle's plane flying into a 50 story condominium? Before it was announced that it was an accident I realized that it happened on 10/11 and wondered if there was a meaning to it.
I saw it briefly on CNN on my boss's office computer and then forgot about it. When I did catch back up, I just couldn't believe that small planes were still allowed to fly unimpeded over Manhattan. Hello?!
