Well, this IS good news!

Although I'm not sure if it's 100% true.

Phew

You are allowed to have children

According to your test results, you seem to be a decent, law-abiding citizen who does not have sex with animals. Go forth, and spread your offspring throughout the world, for you have been granted permission to reproduce. Hooray for you.

Should you be allowed to have children?

Selkies!

I love selkies. I'm not sure if the description fits...except for the last line.

selkie

The Scottish selkie was a being who appeared to be a seal, but had the ability to shed their skin and roam the land in human form. If a human were to happen upon the discarded seal skin, he or she could hide it and force the selkie to marry him or her. However, if the selkie were to ever find the skin, he or she would immediately reassume seal form and return to the sea from whence they came, leaving their spouse and offspring on land to forever mourn their loss.

As a selkie, you are a very withdrawn, secretive and somewhat sad person, and those around you find you alluring and mystifying. People who come into your life find it difficult to find the inner you. You are also curious, but you enjoy the comforts of home most of all.

Who is your inner Shapeshifter?

You may take a lot of quizzes, but really, it's no big deal. Just harmless fun. Go on, take
another. One of them's bound to sort you into Ravenclaw, if you just keep at it.

Holidays...

1. Are you almost finished with your holiday shopping or you haven't started yet?
Yes, nearly done. A few odds and ends, and then I need to get stuff wrapped and sent. Our gift to each other is the DVD thingy, and Sparky's getting money.

2. What do the holidays mean to you? How does this affect how you celebrate the holidays?
This holiday is supposed to be about waiting for Jesus to arrive. I wish it weren't so nuts, so that I could focus on that. This year I'm really trying to get everything finished early so I can enjoy the actual holiday time. Usually I'm at varying levels of panic throughout the month of December. We'll see how it works out.

3. Are you going away for the holidays or staying home?
Staying home, no relatives coming. I hope. Sparky and The Beast may go to the Gs for a couple of days.

4. What two things do you like about this time of year?
The smell of pine, pine trees, and pine swags on porches.
Church.
(Going to the T's in Wisconsin)

5. What two things do you dislike about this time of year?
See 2. above: the busyness.
The acquisitiveness.
(Christmas cards--sending them, not getting them.)

Yesterday's Meme, which I started before my PC exploded

...and it's still not working just right, but it will definitely be affecting some my responses. I will come back and do this from my home PC later because of the whacked results.

Type in the letters of the alphabet, one by one, to the URL line of Explorer. Then list the first item that comes up for each one. {I'm doing an address and a name, when appropriate since I just discovered Explorer keeps track of your favorites here...!}

At work, many ad URLs came up ; needless to say I didn't include those! {and that's my blown-up computer problem....}
At home, well, hmmm, we obviously clean our cache out too often! I'll have to come back to this meme later, at work. And I'm not the only one using this computer; hence, Cartoon Network and SI. ;-)

Right. Time to take The Beast out for his birthday. Ciao.

You Are the Enthusiast

7

You are outgoing and playful - always seeing the happy side to life.

You're enthusiastic and excitable. You love anything new.

Multi-talented, you do many things well... and find success easy.

You prefer to keep things light with others. Opening up is hard for you.

Well, ok, I think this is somewhat accurate. And I do like all the 'magical' properties of 7, so I guess I'm pleased.

Thanks again, cyberchoc.

Beauty. Movies. yeah....

Plain Sight

B:

Your Beauty lies in plain sight. Plain, simple and the girl next door. People tend overlook you as you are the "normal girl", but you're actually very beautiful. And you have plenty about you to set you apart, but more that lets you blend. People love the stability you have because as others may come and go, you will always be there and you may always be the same. You like simple things and that's what people like about you. You most likely enjoy things most consider normal, like movies, shopping, that sort of thing and are very friendly and probably have many friends. You are sweet and kind and that shows on you, but you're also strong and not very naive. You're a rather well-rounded individual. Even though some people pass you off as just another girl, shrug it off because they don't know what they're missing.

Some Things That Represent You:
Element: Earth, Light
Animal: Cat
Color: Pinks, Blues, Browns
Song: Girl Next Door by Pilot
Expression: Simple Smile
Gemstone: Alexandrite
Mythological Creature: Fox Demon, Hobbit
Sign: Taurus
Planet: Jupiter
Hair Color: Light Brown
Eye Color: Brown

Quote:
"To the world you may be one person, but to one person you may be the world."

Everyone remembers the 'faked-orgasm-in-a-deli' sequence from your kind of movie When Harry Met Sally. It seems that you're falling for a buddy or have already fallen for them. Uh-oh. You're probably caught between the possibility of having a great relationship and wrecking the one you have now. You know what they say, it's better to regret something you did than
something you didn't do.

Reality TV

TV Tuesday

1. Do you watch reality shows? Which ones?
I'm a junkie...got hooked in season two of Real World on MTV and have pretty faithfully watched every season since. Also Road Rules, and the Battle of the Sexes (and all the others of the MTV family, even the wrestling show).

From that [in]auspicious beginning, I have watched all of the Survivors except Africa (can't remember what happened, but life got nuts-busy just about then, I think), a few Moles, including the Celebrity Mole (which was embarrassingly bad, kind of like watching a car wreck) and The Amazing Race. I think I've seen almost all of the latter, though I may have missed an early season.
2. What's your favorite all time reality show?
TAR, no contest. It really is the best in concept and personality.

HOWEVER, I still love watching Real World/Road Rules et al. It is quite amusing to see these kids acting so shamelessly out of control. It makes me happy I'm not there anymore. And it gives me a hint of what to be aware of as my son approaches that age.

I do have to wonder, though, about some of the "kids" on the "battle" shows who are in their mid-thirties. What do their mothers think of their "career" path??
3. Do you feel "reality" shows are real or are they faked?
How about a compromise: they operate with a different, TV-created set of rules that restricts and encourages behaviors that are not restricted or encouraged in what I think of as reality. So, yes they are faked, but the good ones are NOT scripted per se.

Election day

Tuesday Twosome

1. When did you register to vote and what compelled you to do so?
I registered as soon as I turned 18, because my mom nagged me about it, but also so that I could cancel out her vote in an election year. Not that it did the least amount of good, but I could bitch for the following four years in good conscience at least!
2. Did you vote early (if your state offers this) or are you voting on election day?
We have to vote on election day or by absentee ballot here. I voted at 7:25 this morning, but I forgot to ask what number I was. I'm guessing about 80.
3. Do you truly believe your vote counts or are you not convinced that "every vote counts"?

My. Vote. Counts.
I'm still cancelling out my mom, if nothing else.

4. Did you make up your mind about what candidate to vote for awhile back or within the last two weeks?
I knew as soon as the election was decided four years ago who I would probably vote for in 2004. I've seen no reason to change my opinion since then.
5. Compared to your parents' views, are you voting the same as or different from them?
See above. Both voted the party line pretty much all their lives. Oddly enough, though, their daily life belies their politics, which might explain why they raised five kids who voted "against" them (and who married five people who also vote "against" them).
