Saturday 9

(Link in meme-roll)
Easter Parade ("In Your Easter Bonnet") (1933)
Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.

1) This song is about a special Easter hat to be worn with your "Sunday best." Will you be getting dressed up this weekend?
I'll be going to church tomorrow, so I'll be semi-dressy. One of the sucky things about being an adult--and poor--was having to give up buying a brand-new Easter outfit every year. I haven't ever gotten back into that, either, and it's no fun anymore anyway since I no longer fit or feel comfortable in 85% of the clothes offerings. So I'll be wearing my usual work slacks and a purple top as I liturgize tomorrow.
2) Sam is not crazy about hats because she cannot stand "hat hair." Do you have a lot of hats or caps?
I have several, but I never wear them--except for practical reasons in winter--for the same reason Sam doesn't. I do wear a hat occasionally when I'm working outside in summer to keep the sun out of my eyes. Beast has, probably, close to 150 caps in various incarnations, many of them on display (i.e. not worn) or in boxes. It's ridiculous.
3) This song was inspired by New York City's Easter Parade. Does your community host a similar event?
Nope. We are depressingly parade-free around here. It makes me sad.
4) On April 6, President Obama and Michelle will host lucky children for the 137th White House Easter Egg Roll. Which are your favorite eggs: colored hard-boiled eggs, chocolate marshmallow eggs, or plastic eggs with coins inside?
As I posted "yesterday," (actually half an hour ago) my actual favorites are Kinder eggs. I like Cadbury cream eggs too. I don't mind the occasional hard-boiled egg, but they come in at the back of the pack if there's candy involved.
5) How about Peeps? Would you rather have yellow chicks or pink bunnies?
I think I missed the window of opportunity as a child to learn to appreciate these. I think they are hideous, both visually and edibly. My theory is that they are so awful-tasting that this is why we've had to come up with all the evil peeps experiments and things over the years.
6) The biggest chocolate Easter egg was made in Italy, measured 34 feet tall and weighed a staggering 15,000 lbs. Do you thinks it's possible to have too much chocolate?
Of course it is. As a child, I once ate so much of Mom's home-made fudge that I got sick. That was an educational experience.
7) Jelly beans are also popular this time of year. A 2013 poll tells us that red is by far the favorite jelly bean color, with yellow a distant second. Do you have a preference?
Not in color, but I definitely want old-school "fruit" flavors, not "tropical" or "spice." And NOT Jelly Bellies!
8) We've been talking a lot about sweets this morning. The only holiday that generates more candy sales is Halloween. When do you eat more candy: Easter or Halloween?
Halloween. I didn't even buy jelly beans this year. I'm the only one who eats them so....
9) Easter is considered the season of rebirth. What makes you feel refreshed or rejuvenated?
Sleep and a long shower.

I'm with you about baths and showers. There's something so energizing about water.

You're right about a shower. I don't feel like my day has started until I've had some water over my head.

I agree about the peeps. Gah! And a nice shower is good for a person. It really does wake you up!

Where I live, it's probably a good thing we don't have a lot of parades. :)
