Vacation (1982)
Unfamiliar with this week's song? Hear it here.
1) Do you know how to water ski?
I think, since I can't swim, water-skiing will be remaining outside my skill-set.2) Do you have 2014 vacation plans?
Not yet. Probably should think about this, eh?3) Do you have a passport?
Yes. Maybe I should use it this summer.4) If you took a 7-night cruise, could you completely unplug -- no phone calls, no texts, no internet?
Probably not. Well, maybe. Be interesting to try, eh?5) Do you own a travel alarm clock?
Somewhere...? Maybe...? We've been using our phones as alarm clocks for so long, I don't even know where to look for the travel alarm.6) Though the Go-Gos broke up in 1985, they frequently reunite for live performances. What's the last concert you attended?
Big one was U2. I've been to smaller, local ones since then.7) Their first hit was "Our Lips Are Sealed." Can you be trusted with a secret?
Yes. Well, usually; there are a few I've shared because they needed to be shared for safety's sake.8) In 1982, when this song was popular, the comedy Tootsie was in theaters. What movie makes you laugh?
Well, not that one. "Heathers" still elicits a chuckle. So does "Groundhog Day" for odd reasons, and "Caddyshack." The "Airplane" movies... Nothing much current, though I did like "Bridesmaids."9) Sam is chewing on a Tums as she composes these questions. What's the last over-the-counter medication that you took?
Ironically, Prilosec. I'm on a 30-day course.
7 sweet-talkers :
Oh, I Iove Airplane--I forgot about all about that one!
And I just saw a Prilosec commercial as I was reading this! Everyone was having fun at the seashore. Maybe I should take some Prilosec.
Gal, if you're already feeling crummy and want immediate relief, take Zantac. Prilosec is for long-term problems. Also, I'm not having fun at the seashore. I want my money back. ;)
Bookmammal: those movies have a very special place in my heart, and life.
30-day course of Prilosec sounds like there's something serious--I hope you're feeling better before 30 days are up!
PS--every time you mention seeing U2 in concert I turn green with envy. In a good way.
Kwiz: I've been taking Zantac off an on for about a month, and the doctor said that every time I stop too soon, it gives the squirrels in there another chance at my esophagus. Better to knock it down hard, and permanently.
Next time they tour, do *whatever you have to do* to get a ticket--U2 does an excellent concert! Their opening acts...well, let's just say they're batting .500 as far as I'm concerned. But the main show is killer-good.
Bridesmaids was a fantastic film. Kristen Wiig does comedy so well. It was nice to see Chris O'Dowd as the Irish cop love interest.
