Patrick's Place

(Link in meme-roll)
Saturday Six

1. What's the most unique feature of the town or city you live in?
The place I live has only rumors of a notorious former gangster hanging out in the area, but where I work is the home town of a comic strip creator (and shares the name of a character in another strip), and is where a famous old Hollywood star/director grew up and got his start in theater, and more recently is where a well-known movie was filmed about 22 years ago.
2. What specialty food would you say is a signature dish for your community?
Uh? Broasted chicken? I don't think we have one, to be honest.
3. If you had friends in town who'd never seen your city or town, which restaurant would you take them to for the best sense of local flavor?
The best local restaurant is probably the Pub.
4. How high or low do you think your community would rank on a "friendliness" scale to tourists?
I think we are very friendly to tourists, but when we moved here 18 years ago, it wasn't very friendly to new residents.
5. What obvious tourist attraction would you expect first-time visitors to your community would want as a backdrop for snapshots?
We have a tour of the movie sites. And...yeah. That's all. Oh, and the city center is "cute" if you're into that sort of thing. There are always things going on either there or at the fairgrounds, but...I dunno. It's not a tourism hotspot, for sure. Can you tell I'm not on the committee to "sell" the town??
6. What's the best "hidden secret" you’d take first-time visitors to so they could experience your hometown?
We always drive around the city center to see the movie sites. If they're into science, we'll point out the big-name science education center. And then we haul 'em to the nearest Giant City for real tourism.
