Seven Deadly Sins

(from here)
[made @ xanga.com/surveys_for_nimrods]

Sin #1: Lust

1. Who was the last person you checked out? Did they check you out too? Uhm, I don't think I've done this particular thing in awhile, and I'm very covert when I do it anyway. I have no idea if it was reciprocated. [By the way, asking a librarian who they last checked out has a VERY different mean than asking pretty much anyone else that question...lol]
2. Who was the last person you desired, but they didn't feel the same? Seeing as how I'm married, I think I'll plead the 5th on this....
3. Ever cheated on a significant other? If so, have you learned from it? Not...exactly.
4. Do you watch porn? Not very often.
5. Do you masturbate? Not very often.
6. Best physical features on your preferred sex? Shoulders. Mouth. Brain.
7. Who are some celebrities that you think are totally hot? George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Bono, Orlando Bloom....
8. Did you ever lust after a best friend's significant other? How did it turn out? Not, realistically at least, since high school. I'm not a boyfriend/husband thief, so...even in the fantasy sense, it turned out nowhere.
9. When was the last time you had sex? See #2, above.
10. Ever pursued someone, even though they were taken? Nope, see #8.

Sin #2: Gluttony

1. When did you last eat at a restaurant? What restaurant was it? Ate at Is[o]bel's, tonight.
2. When did you last have fast food? Where did you get it? Yesterday? Thursday? Taco Bell.
3. What was the biggest meal you had all day? Dinner; I had a hot veal sandwich with mashed potatoes.
4. Do you have too many clothes? How often do you go shopping? I do. That's on the list of things to do: unloading a lot of them. I don't go shopping that often, though.
5. What's something you have a LOT of? Books. And boxes-filled-with-God-knows-what.
6. Do you eat a lot? I take in more calories than I expend, for sure.
7. What was the last thing you splurged (spent a lot of money) on? Ironically, I did go clothes shopping last weekend at the new department store in town.
8. What do you spend most of your money on (besides bills and anything necessary like that)? Entertainment: internet connection, satellite TV, books, magazines, etc.
9. Last time you ate candy? What was it? Red Vines. No, wait! I finished my Valentine's chocolate this afternoon.
10. Last thing you ate too much of? I should've only eaten half my dinner....

Sin #3: Greed

1. Do you share things? How often? Depends on whether they're shareable. I share what I can, and I give a lot to assorted charities.
2. Someone asks you for a piece of your cookie. You break it in half, but the pieces aren't equal. Who gets the bigger piece? The other person picks, since I broke the cookie. It's fair.
3. When you see change on the ground, do you pick it up? Only if it's face-up.
4. How often do you lend money to people? I don't loan; I give. If they give it back, eventually, that's fine but otherwise I don't get upset.
5. Do you loooove money? It comes in handy, but I wouldn't say I have deep feelings for it in that way.
6. If someone offers to pay for you, do you decline or readily accept? Depends on whether I'm feeling flush, or whether they're feeling flush. I've gotten more relaxed about this over the years.
7. Which of your friends is the wealthiest? No idea. [actually, I'd bet on our financial advisor and his extended family]
8. Would you take a high-paying job that you didn't really like just for the money and benefits? Nope. That ship sailed long ago.
9. Ever stole from anyone? What about stole from a store? What happened? I haven't taken anything from anyone on purpose, but I have a hunch that some things migrated during college when I shared a dorm room. I have stolen from stores, but not for 38 years.
10. Do you ever have enough money? Yes.

Sin #4: Sloth

1. Last thing you procras[t]inated on? Chores. Cleaning. Icky stuff I don't want to do in the short-term that always pays off in the long-term.
2. When you're at a strip mall and the next store you want to go to is at the other side, do you drive over there instead of take a short walk? Is it January or September? Pouring rain? It depends. There is a giant (for me) outside strip mall within a half hour of my house that would take a good 45 minutes to walk (at speed) end-to-end. I'd drive that one unless I needed to make stops along the way.
3. What's a typical day off of school and/or work like for you? Reading, napping, internetting, watching TV, maybe listening to some music. And probably at least one errand and some chores.
4. What's one talent you have that you don't really work on, even though you have the ability to be good at it? Most of them. Right now, getting through the days looks like an accomplishment.
5. How many hours of television do you watch a day? "Watch"=probably .5 because I usually just listen, then look up if something seems interesting. I almost never sit and stare at the TV.
6. What about the amount of time you spend on the internet a day? I'm online all day at work. Probably at least another 2 hours at home after/before work.
7. How many hours of sleep do you get a day? Do you sleep in late? I aim for 6-7. Sleeping late is "after 7 a.m." and it's pretty rare. I try to get a couple of naps in every week, but that doesn't always work.
8. Do you drive to places that are less than three blocks away? I have to around my house because our neighborhood doesn't connect up to the neighborhoods around it unless you go at least .25 miles away and circle back. It's ridiculous. Otherwise, no; I'd walk.
9. When was the last time you exercised? I've been up and down stairs about 12 times in the past hour. That count?
10. Ever copied and pasted your homework from a website on the internet? When I was doing homework, this was not an option. Thank God. The temptation must be horrific.

Sin #5: Wrath

1. If you could kill one person and get away with it, would you do it? Only in my imagination. But I have a SUPERB imagination!  ;-)
2. Is there anyone you honestly and truly can say that you hate? Not in a permanent way. I'm really mostly a softy. However, there is a growing number of people I don't have the patience to deal with.
3. Is there anyone you want revenge on, whether you want to get them back big-time or just play a little prank on them for hurting your feelings? No. Nobody has set out to do me wrong in ways I care about (or even notice) in quite some time. There are some folks I'd like to visit invisibly, or look in their heads to see how they live with themselves, though.
4. Are you fighting with any friends right now? Why? I'm not aware of any fights. I thought there might be a problem between me and a BFF last week, but it seems I was just projecting my own guilt at not doing some things....
5. Last time you were really angry? What happened? Honestly, I haven't been ANGRY for awhile. I've been IMMENSELY FRUSTRATED though--Wednesday was a corker for that, and if the person causing it had appeared in front of me at about 3:00 I probably would have blown my stack at her. She didn't, we're good. Now.
6. When you're angry, what do you do to calm yourself down? Remove myself from the situation. Cry, if I'm alone or with close friends. Wash my hands and face (cold water is preferred). Walk around in small circles and talk to myself.
7. "Hate is just the fear of loving someone." True or false? Never heard this before. I don't think so, but I need to think this through. Generally, I think hate means caring as much about someone as if you loved them, only twisted.
8. What's the best revenge you ever got on someone? The few times revenge has been achieved, I only felt good for a short time, and then I just felt guilty.
9. Was there any hard feelings after your last break-up? On whose end was it on? I honestly don't remember a big discussion.
10. Ever been cheated on? How did that make you feel? Well, the last sort-of mutual thing I was in, part of what caused the drift was him hanging around his ex, having changed schools from the one I was at to the one she was at. I don't know if that's cheating, or even if they were doing anything that could be construed as cheating, but he was there, and not visiting me, so....

Sin #6: Envy

1. Is there anyone you're jealous of? Name a person and tell us why. There really isn't anyone I feel this way about. There are parts of other people's lives I'm occasionally envious of, but in general I'm ok with where I am.
2. List three physical features some other people have that you're envious of (no need to get specific and name people; you can just say something like "brown eyes" or "having perfect eyebrows"): ... having sat here, fingers poised over the keyboard for about 3 minutes, looking blankly into space, I think I can safely say that I seem to have gotten past being envious of people's physical traits. I would like to have other people's personality traits, or skills, or knowledge, but I don't care about having straight hair, blue-green eyes, an hourglass figure anymore. Oh, now I have one: I'd love to NOT be allergic to dogs.
3. List three personality features that other people have that you're envious of: I'd love a lot more stick-to-itiveness, I would be thrilled to be calmer under stress (which, surprisingly, I'm getting better at), and I'd love to be able to keep certain things in my head instead of having to look them up all the time.
4. Are you a jealous significant other? No.
5. Could you date someone who was really jealous? Absolutely not!
6. What celebrity's looks do you envy the most? I think Sandra Bullock is gorgeous (although she needs to gain about 15 pounds--she's gotten far too thin).
7. Do you think anyone is envious of you? In your opinion, what charactertistics (physical and mental) do you possess that you think someone might be envious of? I have no idea if others are envious of me. I am aware of many blessings I have in my life that others might be envious of in the abstract.
8. What are a few things you wish you were good at? Cooking, and the organization of meals in general. Not feeling guilty when I have to quit doing something I thought I could handle, but no longer can. I'd love to be able to dance in public (sober) without feeling like a spaz.
9. Did you ever date someone, break up, and then see them dating someone very attractive a few days later? Were you jealous of that person? A-roo? No? I think?
10. When looking at a love interest's exes, do you often find yourself jealous of their good-looking exes? I've never had any cause to be jealous of any of Beast's exes.

Sin #7: Pride

1. What's something you brag about a lot (be honest--we all brag sometimes)? My son--which is, oddly, the same as the previous person's answer--and my husband. Not that I have anything to do with what a great guy the latter is, of course, but he is pretty awesome.
2. What physical features do you take the most pride in? Lately, my hair.
3. Are you satisfied with what you have? I am.
4. Be honest... when someone is telling you something, do you often change the subject so it's about you and your accomplishments instead? I hope I'm not that way; I fear I am sometimes, however. I don't like people who do this to excess, and I wouldn't want to be one.
5. Do you like talking about your achievements? I don't like to brag.
6. Do your parents tend to brag about how well you came out? They did. What a weird mental picture that is: them going on and on about us kids with others now that they're both dead.
7. Do you strive to be better than others? Do you think competing with others is healthy? I am rather (ahem...very?) competitive, and yes, I do try to outdo others. I don't always frame it that way, but in the end I would rather be better at things I care about than other people. On the other hand, I'm perfectly fine at letting other people be good at things I don't give a shit about.
8. What do you do better than most people? I am a speed-demon at alphabetizing. Too bad it's not a competition sport. I'm also pretty good at proof-reading OTHER people's writing. Not my own. If you read this blog at all, I'm sure you've noticed that.
9. Do you believe in taking pride in things you can't control (ex. being proud of your heritage, being proud of your skin color, being proud of your natural artistic ability)? Hmmm, I take pride in my heritage and the fact that I have freckles, and any innate skills I might have that I've done anything to develop. But I don't take pride in physical characteristics because they aren't, generally, anything I did anything to achieve, and for the most part the stuff that people DO tend to get all prideful about are things that come back and bite them in the ass. I mean, I used to be a very superior, better-than-thou skinny teen. Look at me now. Karma, eh?
10. Who are you competing with right now (it could be anything--classmates for a grade, co-workers for a position, other girl for a guy, etc.)? I'm not really aware of competing directly with anyone. Except maybe with Beast for Who Can Stay Awake Longer tonight....
