Thursday 13

(Link in meme-roll)
What I've Learned in the Last Two Weeks
  1. I don't need to fly Alitalia again, no matter how gorgeous the flight attendants (male) are.
  2. I also don't ever need to try to drive in Italy.
  3. Aaaand ... I don't really need to see video of a pig slaughterhouse again, especially not while sitting in the sun and being harangued at through a megaphone by a 4-year-old.
  4. Italian gameshows are wack. Really. Possibly better than American ones but still wack.
  5. Italian Abby, Ziva and Tony...wrong.
  6. English weddings can be fun.
  7. Washington Dulles airport's name fits its personality: dull.
  8. No matter how well you plan, what you forget to think about is going to be the crisis that occurs.
  9. Every town in every country has a Village Idiot.
  10. When the washing machine starts thumping, loudly, go buy a new one. Don't wait till your clothes come out drippy.
  11. Don't schedule vacations in the last month of the budget year.
  12. Bidets are awesome. Why have they NOT caught on here?
  13. Bulkhead seats. Get them. Pay extra.

#7--I thought it was the best-run airport ever, but that was in October, 2001, and it's quite possible that the efficiency was due to the proliferation of stern-faced gents with machine guns and face-shields.
#9--As long as I never have to date another one, that's a fine observation. ;)

#9 is actually Beast's observation when we walked past someone in Florence screaming random things randomly. We sat on the other side of the piazza, even though V.I. was in the sun.

Dulles=no people movers (i.e. flat escalators) and our gates were at opposite ends of concourses C & D. Also, what's with the 'shark' bus? In fairness, however, it was 9:30 pm when we boarded our plane; everything was closing down.
