What's the most serious book you've read recently?
Every Man Dies Alone, by Hans Fallada

Primo Levi--who should know--called it "[t]he greatest book ever written about German resistance to the Nazis." In spite of this I found parts of it absurdly, hysterically funny. Which may say much about my sense of humor....
