Back to School Edition
1. School uniforms: Good thing or bad thing? Why?
I think they have a time and a place, but only in pretty extreme circumstances.2. School supplies: Our school district operates under a limited budget and school supplies other than notebooks and paper tend to be common use, meaning the class shares what each child brings in. What is your feeling on providing for the class rather than just your child?
Well, if everyone brings all the same stuff, I'm not sure how this works. Whatever. I wouldn't like it, but I see the general concept, but really only for younger kids. Actually, Sparky's supplies were all jointly shared in the very early grades--but everyone had to bring the same stuff in. I don't think it was a money-saving issue at all.3. Favorite classes: Math or science? English or History? Band or chorus?
I really liked everything when I was younger. Science went by the wayside by the time high school rolled around. Math, too.4. Foreign languages: Did your school have a foreign language requirement? What languages did they offer? Did you take a language?
I started Spanish classes when I was first allowed in 7th grade (with Ms. Epstein, I kid you not!). French and German were offered as well. I don't remember if we were required to take a language, but really to get into college it was pretty much something you should have under your belt.5. Visiting the past: If you could go back to school, would you? Or is it better off in the past?!
I'd go back for some specific courses: Greek, Hebrew, some history.
