I Had an Accident

1. Have you ever been in a serious accident? If not, how about any accident?
I've had three scary moments while driving that I recall. I got broadsided a couple of years ago at a very low speed. I also came very close to flipping over our former pickup because a STUPID FUCKHEAD driving a milk truck decided he needed to be in the left lane while I was passing him. The third time was about a year ago when I slid off the wet road into the front yard of a farmhouse, bumped along tearing up their grass, barely missed a 100-year-old oak, and skated back up to the road just before I crashed into a picket fence. That was pretty...fun.
2. Have you ever been ticketed for an accident and if so did you pay it or fight it?
Nope. The cops have never been called. Yet. Knock wood they won't need to be involved in the future either.
3. What kind of insurance do you have and would you recommend it to your friends?
We have small-company insurance from a company downstate. They are AWESOME! I'd absolutely recommend them. 'Course, we've only had to use them once...when someone backed out of their driveway and bashed in the driver's door on our parked pickup.
4. Did the accident cause you to change the way you drive?
Of those I've mentioned, the two that were my fault...yes. The STUPID FUCKHEAD one just made me terrified of tankers on interstate highways.
5. Did you need a rental car? If so, did you get a better car or worse one than you had? If not, what did you do for transportation?
No rental. I just carried on driving the same vehicle, after a few deep breaths. There wasn't that much damage, although the door to the car is a little wonky in the broadside accident. It still leaks a little air, but no one can tell it was hit.
6. Have any of the mishaps you've experienced with your vehicles given you impressions of the quality or safety of certain vehicles?
Uh...no. They've all had more to do with my driving skills and attentiveness (or lack thereof) than with the vehicle.
7. Have you had to hire an attorney due to an accident?
Nope.
8. When in an accident were you alone, with someone, with your children, etc. Did that make a difference in the situation?
The broadside happened on the way home after Beast had one of his spinal treatments. So much for low-stress for him! The other two happened while I was alone. I'm sure who I'm with determines how I react.
9. Finally, if you could drive any vehicle you wanted, what would it be?
I liked the Ford Escape I drove last spring in Colorado. I like Hondas and Toyotas of all stripes. I really would love to have a jeep, though.
