Curious as a Cat

(Link in blogroll)

1) What one expression of gratitude that you made would you like to retract.
Anything I said thank you directly to K. for over the years. It was never about her being kind; it was always about what she could do for herself.
2) In what part of the world--other than where you are now--would you most like to live?
Someplace warmer and sunnier in the winter, and less humid in the summer...so, like, Colorado, yo.
3) What do you think the role of religion should be in today's world?
I wish people wouldn't get so entrenched in being RIGHT about their view of God/spirit/whatever. I wish we could talk to each other and learn about our believes without the ulterior motive of trying to convert people to our way of thinking. I believe in humility and grace not fear and trembling.
4) What was the most romantic moment of your life? (Details!!)
The summer before our senior year in college, Beast and I were pretty much exclusively dating with our eyes on staying together for the future. I was working on campus and living in an old rattrap of a house with my 6 coworkers; Beast was living at home working two jobs and training for his senior year football season. We talked regularly, but were nearly 800 miles apart and didn't see each other from May till August. The day he arrived back on campus for two-a-days, he came over to the house where I was living. I knew he was coming and so I was wound pretty tight. I was in my bedroom when someone hollered my name up the stairs...I came out to the top of the stairs and arrived there just as he rounded the corner to come up. That moment is frozen like a photograph in my head. He looked so good. He was wearing a pale blue/green shirt stretched tight across his chest and...I dunno just looking good.
5) Show and Tell. What comes to mind first when you see this picture? Or, tell a story if it reminds you of one.

These are the iris at the foot of my porch steps last summer. I love all the green, and the purple just sets it off nicely, similar to the crocuses that bloomed last week. Sigh. Maybe spring will actually come after all....

For some reason, iris always remind me of my mom. She calls them 'flags.'
