Work Stuff

1. What is your work ethic hours-wise? Do you think you should be able to put in your 40 hours and go home, or is working 60 hours a week okay to you? Why/why not?
Well. I'm part time, supposedly 32 hours/week. HAH! I don't mind working extra--obviously, since I do every week--as long as I get to choose when to work, and at what. I don't like it when Schedule Dingbat just assumes I can read her mind, or that I don't mind filling in for someone else. The only time I get really pissy about hours is when I'm covering for Crazy Cat Woman, since she categorically refuses to go out of her way on this issue. In over ten years, she has never come in on a day off to help out. N-E-V-E-R.
2. Do you believe that work is life or vice versa? Why/why not?
It's important to work, if only for money and to feel as if you have a place in society, but I certainly don't think it is life! Ugh. Especially if you are a 9-5 corporate drone! At least, I feel like I actually have a good 'cause' to my work. Not sure, in the big picture, how many people can say that, nor am I sure that most people enjoy the work they are set to do. Liking your job and seeing it in the big picture of how it affects the world, I think, are really important.
3. Do you plan to stay in your current line of work forever? Why/why not?
Yup. I like my job and I think it's important and challenging. I suppose in the real world, I should be considering advancement down the road, y'know: more management responsibilities, more committee and association work, but I really just like being able to get on with doing my job in a collegial atmosphere.
