1. Who was your best friend?
Laura M., Teri W., Beth B.--different times, different people at different times.2. Did you play any sports?
Is marching band a sport? If so, then yes.3. What kind of car did you drive?
No traditional sports, though.
My parents' cars--Chevy Malibu station wagon and Subaru hatchback. When Mom got the Subaru, I was allowed to be in charge of the 71 Toyota Corolla it replaced (complete with push-button replacement starter).4. It’s Friday night. Where were you?
During football season, if it was a home-game week, I was at the game (as a band member). Otherwise, I was home, probably watching "Dukes of Hazzard" on TV.5. Were you a party animal?
Uh, yeah, so totally NOT in any way, shape or form!!6. Were you considered a flirt?
See previous answer.7. Were you in the band, orchestra or choir?
Band.8. Were you a nerd?
I was a member of the band--in our school, that was way cool--but also a braniac, so I'd say half-and-half. At the time, I always thought I was a big nerd.9. Were you ever suspended or expelled?
Hell, no! I'm still alive, aren't I? My parents would have strung me up for anything along these lines.10. Can you sing the fight song?
[sung to the tune of "On Wisconsin"]:11. Who was your favorite teacher?
Come on [home town], Come on [home town]
Fight right through that line
With your colors flying high
We'll win them every time. (rah rah rah)
Come on [home town], Come on [home town]
Fight for future fame
la la la...
....win this game [I think]
So, yeah. The question is "why?" Because I mostly played it on the flute rather than singing the words....
Miss Fitz. I just got photos from a reunion for our band director (all the classes who had him for a teacher), and Fitz was there. She was our psych/soc teacher.12. What was your school mascot?
But I also loved Grubie. She was who I wanted to be when I grew up. (I'm not.)
We were the Pirates (in Colorado--I snicker, now, at the thought).13. Did you go to the Prom?
Hell no. Even then I thought it was a huge waste of time.14. If you could go back, would you?
If I could go back with my 43-year-old emotions and intelligence, yes. But not permanently, just to visit for a week or so.15. What do you remember most about graduation?
Listening to the guy who sold us our class rings do the speech (WTF? even then...!), and then waiting for everyone to get their diplomas after we in the front row got ours. And then throwing our white graduation gowns in the hopper to be returned to the rental agency and being congratulated in the hall by the principal. Who knew that he actually knew who I was?!16. Where were you on Senior Skip Day?
Of course, that was after weeks of rolling my eyes over the drama of "who is valedictorian?" since there were 6 of us all clumped together within .01 of each other's GPA. Ridiculous. The school made us all co-valedictorians (NOT because we asked them to!!) and Teri was P-I-S-S-E-D.
I don't remember that there was one. We did Senior Prank instead (but I can't remember what we did, because I was too chicken...did they TP the courtyard of the school or something...?).17. Did you have a job your senior year?
No. I had left my library job by then, where I learned a very important lesson: it doesn't pay to be too honest at work.18. Where did you go most often for lunch?
Where did I go? The lunchroom, if Dr. G. gave us time enough to eat! Band was right before lunch, and during marching season, we frequently had less than ten minutes to eat and get to our post-lunch classroom. I think we had a closed campus anyway, and there wasn't anyplace close enough to walk that I can recall.19. Have you gained weight since then?
I think I weighed about 110 in high school. At 5'8", if I still weighed that, I'd need hospitalization. I've gained a substantial amount. Too much.20. What did you do after graduation?
Went 1000 miles away to college in the fall. I could not WAIT to get away from my parents!21. What year did you graduate?
1982.22. Who was your Senior Prom Date?
Didn't we cover this?23. Who was your homeroom teacher?
I don't remember, except that it was math during my sophomore year; after that I have no memory of homeroom whatsoever. Weirdly (I found out later), it was third period.
