Hump Day
1. Do you currently subscribe to any magazines? If so, which ones?
I read Entertainment Weekly religiously. We also get Sports Illustrated (I never look at it--it's Beastie's), Discover, Scientific American (both also Beastie's), Ms., Presbyterians Today, Ignite (the teen magazine for Christian Century), Public Libraries, Bookmarks...and Sparky gets a couple of things too, but don't ask me what they are called. One's a manga thing. {shrug}2. What magazines have you subscribed to in the past?
In addition to the above, Newsweek, Time, Science, several kids' mags I can't remember, and the requisite parenting drivel when Sparky was a baby/toddler. I used to have a subscription to Real Simple, which I loved, but it lapsed and I never reupped. I loved Book Magazine, but it's defunct. My mom subscribed me to Guideposts for years, but she stopped when she went into 'care.' I sort of miss it.3. What do you do with the little cards that always fall out of the magazine? Do you toss them, or have you found a use for them?
They come in handy sometimes as bookmarks, but mostly we just swear at them. Beast goes through his magazines before he reads them and tears out all the cards. I don't think EW uses them? I don't remember seeing too many of 'em.4. If you could start a magazine, what would it be about? Who or what would be on the cover of the first issue?
I'd like to see Book restart, and I'd put Stephen King on the cover to piss people off. (His column is EW is hysterically funny, opinionated, and intentionally annoying in a good way.)
