From Us to You

1. We’re buying you a lifetime subscription to any magazine or periodical journal you want! What’ll it be?

Magazines go where their editors take them. I frequently don't really like where a new editor takes me, so I'm not sure a lifetime subscription would work for me. Having said that, the only two I can think of are "Ms." and "Games." Neither is likely to change its focus too dramatically in the next 40 years!

2. We’re buying you any existing non-chain, one-location-only store and giving you an expert lifetime manager, so that all you have to do is make decisions and watch them succeed or fail! What will be the store, and what will be your first change?

This is hard, because the stores in town that I like I wouldn't really want much to change; it's what keeps me coming back. I guess I'd do less of the "coffee bar" stuff at C0bblest0nes and focus on the candy and gift and interesting furniture that they sell.

3. We’re buying you any house within a one-mile radius of your own! Which one do you want, and why?

There aren't too many houses I like more than my own around here. I might be interested in the brick one down the street because it is ALL brick and has a fenced yard and no backyard neighbors. I suppose I can't buy the ugly water tower and tear it down (or paint it)??

4. We’re hiring someone to take care of any ONE specific household chore (except cooking) for the rest of your life! Which chore will he or she attend to?

Floors. All floors. And I've already got someone doing them. :-)

5. We’re providing the start-up capital for any crazy idea for a business, service, or product you can dream up, giving you total creative control while we finance your dream for five years, after which it must fail or succeed on its own merit! What will it be?

Some kind of organizational business. Not sure what. Maybe I can start a business being everyone's household coordinator, doing all the stuff that we all hate to do. Like sitting around waiting for the cable guy to show up.
