Manic Monday

(Link at left)
Mr. Sandman

Do you have a regular bedtime routine that helps you get to sleep?
Bathroom stuff: jammies, teeth, face, etc.
In bed stuff: sudoku/crossword, Burt's Bees, earplugs, hand lotion... (I do the sudoku until I'm dozing off).
On average, how many hours of sleep do you get each night?
I probably average 5 or 6 lately. This last weekend I got over 8 each night. I've discussed my sleep issues ad nauseum elsewhere, but I'm grateful I don't have the insomnia issues I did in my 20s, where I would go weeks at a time tossing and turning every night.
How many hours do you actually require and/or like to have?
I'm thinking that I actually need less than 7 each night, something I've only discovered in the past 6-8 years or so.
How do you deal with insomnia?
I refuse to lie in bed and worry about stuff, so I get up and do crosswords or read. Moving to another venue always works best for me; I've slept on the living room couch hundreds of nights--no, I'm not exaggerating!--and in the spare room, too.
