Weather & Traffic

1. When the weather changes (say, it rains when it usually doesn't), do you think traffic behavior is different? How so/how not?
Oh, totally. The first snowstorm every year means Stupid Driving Free-For-All.
2. What about when the kiddies don't have school? Do you see the traffic patterns change then? Does it affect you at all?
Yeah, in the town where I work, there is only one main north/south thoroughfare. When school gets out it becomes gridlock. If they aren't in school, traffic is just less on the main streets (and a little busier on the side streets for some reason).
3. Accidents...accidents *always* muck up traffic. Seen any bad ones lately? Are there more accidents when the weather changes?
I saw a lot of ambulances last night, but I'm not sure if it was accidents or something else. It was raining, but it had been all day off and on. I haven't seen any accidents, thank God.
Bonus Question: Given the choice of driving or not ever driving (say, full public transportation is available), which would you choose? Why?
Depends on where I'm driving. If it's city traffic with loads of people out and about, I'd really rather not drive. However, if I have a schedule I need to stick pretty close to, or if I'm going lots of different places, I'd rather have a car. On top of all of this, I live where there is virtually no short-trip public transportation. I can get to The City, but otherwise it's a huge hassle.
