?otw

I heard a quick thing on NPR about whining at work, and how there is a fine line between whining enough that you don’t seem like one of those creepy Pollyanna people, and so much whining that people don’t want to be around you because man, are you a pill.

Do you whine about things? Do you think you whine more about work, or about other things that are going on in your life? Are you like me, and you try to be funny when you whine, so that people don’t start to avoid you? Because I have certainly had my fair share of days where you just need a good whine. Or are you a Pollyanna and don’t whine at all?
I used to be a Pollyanna. I whine a lot more now, but only to a select few people. Unfortunately, I work for a bit of a Pollyanna and it's fuckingannoying when she says that we need to look on the bright side...of the ginormous freight train bearing down on us. Yeah, ok, Boss: it's a CLEAN train, so at least our mangled corpses won't get dirty. How's that for the good side of things?

Ooops, I seem to be whining here, too. ;-)

Yeah, I try to keep it funny when I whine, but I tend to rant if it's something I think is important. There's a fine line between whine and rant.
