The last couple of days, however, need some processing. I won't be getting into specifics, this is going to be random in the extreme, and if you see yourself in here, you're probably looking too hard.
Whew!
- I'm caught up at work. What this means is that I'm kind of at loose ends, and I have more time to think about what I'm doing, rather than mindlessly plodding through a ginormous stack of cataloging. Thinking at work is overrated.
- There are some things in life that, regardless of your level of exhibitionism, no matter how much you embrace blogging and investigative journalism...some things should be left unsaid.
- The corollary for number 2 is that almost everything ever published on the 'net is findable in Google archives. If you search long and hard enough, you can probably find it. An example of this is a photo I uploaded directly from another website a year ago to illustrate something on my other blog. When I checked yesterday, 30 hits on that blog came from searches for that photo, which I removed about 5 months ago.
But that isn't why I'm obsessing over this knowledge. - No good deed goes unpunished. In fact, the nicer you are, the faster you get trampled sometimes.
- Feeling inadequate sucks. So does feeling like the dumbest, most naive person on Earth.
- It's July 13 and we're only up to the beginning of the 300s in inventorying the library. I'm pretty sure we're not going to finish the nonfiction, much less the rest of the building, by the end of the summer.
- Knowing something in your head is different from knowing it in your soul. Being faced with something you've always said you're "ok about" sometimes means you find a big nasty splodge of ugliness hidden away. Sort of an internal NIMBY.
- Related to that is the knowledge that somewhere out there are people who {gasp!} don't like me. Realistically, I don't really give a shit. But, it never pays to be aware that not everyone is sane about their dislike.
- Well, this list has become very depressing! I'm going away this weekend. That's not depressing! The following week, I'm going on vacation. That's not depressing either, although it will be hectic; it's really never good when the number of kids is higher than the number of adults (this is our annual week of renting a house with friends).
- Allergy season has commenced. Apparently, the corn in the area has begun to pollinate. Hence, our house is locked up tighter than it ought to be, based on the weather. The nights have been cool enough to open up the windows, but if we do that...let's just say my day never improves past the moment I pry open my eyes.
- I am steadily losing weight. Not fast. But steady. I need to bite the bullet and sign up at the gym. Sadly, I walked in last week for something for Sparky and actually got nostalgic about the weight machines. Too pathetic.
- I spent three hours last waiting for email. None came. I need to develop the ability to walk away from the computer.
- I think this actually helped. As long as I stay away from looking up former friends on Google, stop accessing my email and Bloglines every 5 minutes, and get something done this morning, I should be able to get through the day.
Ya'll probably are ready to call the padded truck to come get me. Heh.
