1. Do you find yourself driving less due to the high gas prices?
I wish I could say yes, but we live about 6 miles from the nearest...anything...so we drive a lot. And summer, with a teenage boy, means even more driving.2. This week, Exxon Mobil reported quarterly profits of more than $10.3 billion, the second-best quarter ever for a U.S. company. As we're paying, on average, $3.00 per gallon here in the U.S., do you think the oil companies are using the conflict in the Mid-East as an excuse to gouge consumers?
Yes. No question. Jerks.3. According to the Department of Energy, adjusted for inflation, the price of gasoline is still below its all time peak back in 1981. Back in 1981 the average new car got 21 miles per gallon. Today the average new car gets 22 miles per gallon. Why do you think there hasn't been more innovation and progress in this area?
Because Big Business would rather make money than progress. There is a new documentary out called Who Killed the Electric Car? which discusses this very idea.
