Five on Friday

Reading is FUNdamental!

1. How many books do you read per month? How many are for work/school?
8-15. Depends on the month. Could I get a business write-off if they're for work? hah

2. What is your favorite genre of book (fiction, self-help, etc...)?
Mysteries are my favorite fiction. History is my favorite nonfiction.

3. Do you subscribe to any magazines? Which? Are there any you'd like to subscribe to but haven't?
Entertainment Weekly and Guideposts (my mother buys this for me...). I used to get Real Simple, but my subscription lapsed; I'm reupping next year. I'll probably be getting a gift subscription to Presbyterians Today, too.

4. Where do you get your reading materials? Online? Bookstore? Library?
Probably 95% of what I read comes from a library. Most of what I buy I buy at our little bookstore in town. I also buy from the Big Stores sometimes, and from Amazon if I'm shipping.

5. List 5 books you recommend people read:
The Bible--because everyone should know where our heritage starts
The Oedipus cycle--ditto above, and because people haven't changed much; plus, they're really nice and gory
King Lear--someday we'll all be old, and in the meantime we're full of hubris
The Communist Manifesto--Marx and Engels weren't completely wrong, they were just unrealistic and impractical
One for the Money, by Janet Evanovich--because if you don't fall down laughing at some point while reading this book, you are either dead boring or just dead
