Patrick's Place

Saturday Six

1. How often did you attend football games — or any kind of sporting event — from your high school when you were a student?
I was in band, so I was at every home game marching the pre-game and half-time shows. ... Wait, how often did I attend them "from" my high school? I didn't go to any away games; the team sucked and I didn't care about football that much. I did help out the wrestling team, and went to all those matches.
2. How often did you attend football games — or any kind of sporting event — from your college when you were a student?
I started college in marching band, but the director hated marching and had no respect for it, so it wasn't much fun. Then I started to date a football player and generally get to know some of the guys on the team, so I went to all the home games (unless it was frigid cold). By senior year, I was involved in broadcasting the games on the campus radio station, so I had to go to the away games too. That was pretty awesome.
3. Since graduating either, how many games have you attended?
At my almae matres? I haven't been back to high school at all, but we've attended Homecoming games at our college quite a few times in the past 25 years.
Other football games: all of Sparky's games the year he was on the team, including the away games...ugh...and the sophomore team games, and several of the home games at his school at other times. Oh, and I've been at two or three Packer games. Yeah. Let's not forget those. ahem
4. If you had to choose any sport to really get into, which sport would you choose and why?
I am, by default if nothing else, "really into" football, having married that football player I mentioned above. That's good enough for me. I don't mind auto racing, but most other professional sports bore the POO outta me. Oh, but I could easily get into rodeo, given the opportunity.
5. If you had to choose any particular team to follow, which team would you choose and why?
I did choose the Packers. I like them because of the history, because I've lived in Wisconsin, because the fans as a rule are quite respectful of the team, and because (as of last month) I own part of the only team that is community-owned. No, I do not live in Wisconsin any longer, but I love those guys.
6. Your prediction: Who’s going to win this year’s Super Bowl?
Please please PLEASE don't let it be Tom Brady and his coach, the Evil Emperor. Not that I'm a fan of the Giants, either. Can both teams just lose?
