Complete the Thought (June 15)
1. I wish someone would ...
... empty my house the way I want it emptied without me.
2. When I order Chinese food ...
... I pretty much always get crab rangoon.
3. I know it's not everyone's favorite activity, but I actually enjoy ...
... napping.
5. A major pet peeve of mine is ...
... mispronunciation of common words.
6. I remember when my grandfather ...
(I do not remember either of them: one died 20+ years before I was born, the other I vaguely remember before he died when I was three; I don't remember anything about that)
7. I am not fazed at all by ...
... children trying to con me. Mostly I'm a very soft touch.
8. Long car rides ...
... put me to sleep. I can't read or do anything but stare out the window, so they're just boring af.
9. I don't understand the fuss over ...
... most of any drama going on in Hollywood/Instagram.
10. When I'm home alone ...
... I'm generally very happy.
What Would You Say At This Moment to: (June 22)
1) Someone you have hurt?
"I'm very sorry." (with a couple of specific exceptions I wouldn't apologize to if my life depended on it)
2) Someone who has hurt you?
"I have nothing to say to you."
3) Your favorite teacher from grade school?
"Thank you for everything you did for me that I paid no attention to at the time."
4) Your most hated teacher from high school?
(I don't think I had a teacher I hated, just some subjects that bored me to tears.)
5) Your best friend from college?
I saw her last weekend. We laughed a lot.
6) Your favorite recording artist?
"Thank you."
7) Your favorite author?
Oh I have lots of questions about plotting ("why did the main character have to die?" is probably fairly common), but I'd mostly also say "Thank you so very very much!"
8) Your first boss?
"I have nothing to say to you, but grudging thanks for showing me how NOT to be a boss."
9) Your first love?
"I miss you."
10) Your true love?
"I'll see you soon and talk to you sooner."
Just Another Manic Monday (June 29)
1. What is something you should throw away, but just can't bring yourself to part with?
<gestures at entire household contents>
2. When you make yourself a sandwich, do you cut it on the diagonal, straight up the middle, or not at all?
I rarely cut them, but on the very rare eventuality, it's entirely dependent on what kind of sandwich.
3. What song or sound brings back memories of childhood?
"Georgy Girl." My sister used to sing it to me, and dance with me in her arms, when I was very little.
4. Who is the first person you call when you have good news?
Sparky.
5. Have you ever set out on a walk in the rain?
Yes. I do not recommend.
F.A.B. (July 6)
F. Film: What movie or tv show are you watching?
I haven't watch TV or seen a movie in months. Most of my movies are pre-screened for me by Sparky who insists I watch them. She's got good taste.
A. Audio: What are you listening to?
Right now, I'm in the middle of the "The Hilarious Hair-Raisin’ Crimes of Professional Wigjackers" episode of Ridiculous Crime.
B. Book: What are you reading?
ANDMaking the Best of What's Left: When We're Too Old to Get the Chairs Reupholstered (Judith Viorst) [possibly not the best book to read on my anniversary weekend while missing my Beast]
2 sweet-talkers :
Crab rangoon is a good choice! I can imagine little girls dancing to "Georgy Girl."
In the last hour, I saw a reference on FB to Judith Dunham. She was the female lead vocalist of the Seekers on songs such as Georgy Girl. She died in August 2022
