We Can Work It Out
- What’s a real-world lesson you learned from your first job?
First job for pay was, realistically, babysitting. I learned that kids are both annoying and boring and that I did not want to be a preschool teacher! I had no idea WTF to do with them before bedtime/naptime. I was the youngest in my family so I had no real experience. I learned.
- What was pleasantly unexpected about your current (or most recent) job?
How much I love it.
- What are some identifying tools of your trade?
Books? Glasses, buns, sensible shoes, and cats--I have glasses and sensible shoes, not so much the rest. Superhuman brains. Curiosity.
- What’s something a job required that you thought was far outside your skillset?
I temped one summer in college. There were a long list of Things I Never Want to Do, one of which was receptionist. I mean, I could do the damn job, but it's so bloody boring and you have to be so bloody cheerful to everyone about everything. Yuck. Also, same timeframe: making Italian sauces and noodles. Fookin' hard work!
- Robert Frost wrote, “My object in living is to unite / My avocation and my vocation / as my two eyes make one in sight.” To what degree have you united your vocation (your job) and your avocation (your hobby)?
I read voraciously. I deal with books all day. I think it's pretty, uhm, clear? lol

LOL to #5!
Tote bags. Librarians always seem to have tote bags screened with the branding of some conference or professional society. :)
The number of cloth bags in my life doesn't bear thinking about. I'm pretty sure I'm closing in on 50 and those are just the ones that still have functional handles and solid bottoms. You are absolutely right!!
If you have them in one place, you should do a photographic series on them. That would be fun. Well, for me. Maybe less fun for you.
ONE PLACE!
ha ha ha ha ha
If they were cats, I'd be arrested--they're EVERYWHERE, throughout the house, in the car, at work. Srsly. It would take me a week, full-time searching, to be sure I'd collected them all.
