Name seven breakthroughs or changes you think will have happened by the year 2050. [ideas here, and here]
My pre-reading-the-choices list:
- Medical breakthroughs on many, many diseases, including diabetes, Parkinsons, and Alzheimers. I don't hold out a lot of hope for cancer, to be honest, however.
- Vast reworking of the Social Security/Medicare/Medicaid system making it nearly unrecognizable.
- Imaginative new ways to make life miserable for others, including new ways of killing our enemies.
- Major economic failures due to the West's refusal to accept the forward march of time and life cycles of cultures.
- Space flight. More, more often, more people involved.
- More regulations that reflect the fact that our world is small and interconnected and we can't pollute it forever.
- With the death of the majority of the Baby Boomer generation, the whole 1960s era nostalgia will have FINALLY died. And none too soon.
- No more gas-powered cars.
- Humans will be cloned.
- There will be another world war.
- Our role in the world will be less important.
- Health care will be more affordable.
- The gap between rich and poor in the United States will grow.
- Race relations will improve.
