Sunday 7
Name seven breakthroughs or changes you think will have happened by the year 2050. [ideas here, and here]

My pre-reading-the-choices list:
  1. Medical breakthroughs on many, many diseases, including diabetes, Parkinsons, and Alzheimers. I don't hold out a lot of hope for cancer, to be honest, however.
  2. Vast reworking of the Social Security/Medicare/Medicaid system making it nearly unrecognizable.
  3. Imaginative new ways to make life miserable for others, including new ways of killing our enemies.
  4. Major economic failures due to the West's refusal to accept the forward march of time and life cycles of cultures.
  5. Space flight. More, more often, more people involved.
  6. More regulations that reflect the fact that our world is small and interconnected and we can't pollute it forever.
  7. With the death of the majority of the Baby Boomer generation, the whole 1960s era nostalgia will have FINALLY died. And none too soon.
Now that I've looked at the list, here are those I most agree with:
  1. No more gas-powered cars.
  2. Humans will be cloned.
  3. There will be another world war.
  4. Our role in the world will be less important.
  5. Health care will be more affordable.
  6. The gap between rich and poor in the United States will grow.
  7. Race relations will improve.
