You have the opportunity to cast the deciding vote as to whether or not an additional tax will be placed on sugary soft drinks, knowing that the revenue will fund medical care that is designed to fight obesity. Would you vote for a tax hike on those higher-calorie soft drinks, or leave the price alone? Why or why not?

Yes, I'd vote for it, with the stipulation that the tax would not be on the diet sodas, or at least not as high.

I would go a GIANT step further and put a HUGE tax on fast food, and mega-processed food of all kinds. And I'd do a subsidy on the entire produce section so that those prices would come down.

Now I'd better run and hide.

Some of this stems from the diet that I started this week. It's hard to find healthy food that isn't outrageously expensive.
