1. Typically, what time do you wake up? I seem to be on the 6 a.m. wakeup plan lately, unless I set my alarm for earlier.
2. On a good night, what time are your kids in bed? Sparky takes himself off to bed between 8 and 9 every night, but he rarely goes to sleep before 9:30.
3. How long have you been a mommy? Sparky was born in early 1993, so depending on when you count "mommyhood" starting...either 15.5 or 16 years. Oddly, however, the "mommy" name has never really stuck for me.
4. How old were you when you became a mom? 29.
5. What is your favorite kids T.V. show? I still like Mr. Rogers--though he bored Sparky to tears. And Sesame Street has its moments. Otherwise, I have no idea what's on anymore, really. This is not a complaint!
6. What is your least favorite kids T.V. show? I was never thrilled with Barney--those kids made me want to drop mudpies on them, and watching Teletubbies was like glass under my eyelids.
7. What is your favorite chore? I don't mind washing dishes.
8. What is your favorite meal to cook? Soft cheese on crackers. Or PBH. OK, if it involves heating the oven or stove...spaghetti.
9. What is your least favorite meal to cook? Anything else.
10. What is your kid's favorite meal? Is it edible? That's his favorite, then.
11. What is your favorite thing your husband does with your kids? Treats him like a grown-up. It's rare.
12. What are 5 things that make you smile when you are being a mom? Hugs, attentiveness, watching him learn something new, seeing him reach his potential, unwary smiles.
13. If you could take your kids anywhere, where would it be? Briefly, Calcutta.
14. When was the last time you went out without your kids? Uh, I think this doesn't apply....
15. What is your favorite pastime/activity to do with your kids? Hanging out, playing a game or working on a puzzle.
16. Name one thing you said you would never say as a mother. I always said I'd never intentionally make my kids feel bad. Hah. HAH!
17. Name something you do that your mom did. Fly off the handle.
18. What is your favorite quality your mom has? ERK?? My mom has developed a lot more patience.
19. What is your favorite kids book? The Laura books.
20. What is your favorite advice for new moms? Trust yourself, and sleep whenever you can.
21. What is your most heartbreaking moment as a mom? Realizing that I can't always protect Sparky from pain.
22. What is your most joyful moment being a mom? Rocking Sparky to sleep when he was a little guy.
