Mail

1. you got money in the mail?
Talk about serendipitous timing: I got a reimbursement check in the mail today from work for....something, I don't remember what. Supplies for a program? Mileage? Who knows.
2. you sent a letter?
Last weekend, I sent a letter of recommendation for someone, but it was faxed. Before that, it's been awhile. I used to be so good at this, but it has fallen by the wayside.
3. you received a package?
We got our vacation photos--twice--about two weeks ago. Yes, I ordered one set, and Snapfish sent two sets, and only charged us for one.
4. you purchased stamps?
Three weeks ago, when I realized the price had gone up, so I needed a bunch of 2-cent stamps for the flyers I was sending out for youth group.
5. you had to wait in line at the post office?
When I bought those stamps. Don't you always have to wait in a line at the p.o.? It's like the grocery store. On the other hand, I may be the only person in the country who actually likes going to the post office and enjoys talking to the clerks. We have a good p.o. and I know whereof I speak (see below).
6. you talked to your mail carrier?
I'd rather chew on window glass. Anything I said to our mail carrier(s) would be unfriendly, and result in us getting our mail even later and more messed up than the way things stand now.
By the way, I use the p.o. in the town where I work, not the local one. The local p.o. employees seem to have their heads so far up their butts they can see their own teeth.
7. you didn't get your mail because somebody blocked your mailbox, you missed a mail/package delivery, your mail was delivered to the wrong place, etc.
No one has blocked our mailbox, ever. People who send us stuff know not to send it to our house, or they send it via something other than USPS, so this doesn't come up much. Our mail going astray? Probably all the time; we certainly get a lot of things that belong elsewhere, which we either redeliver in person or put back out in the mailbox. And we have to rent a p.o. box in town to get our weekly magazines and third class mail on time. People nearby who haven't done that still haven't received their church newsletter, which was mailed last Saturday.
8. you gave your mail carrier a gift? what was it?
We sprayed for the (non-existent) wasps/bees by the mailbox post in August, as we were threatened with non-delivery because of the "plantings." Yeah...that's actually gravel and well-tended grass there, not a flower box, but whatEVer....
The last actual gift was for our carrier in town, about 5 years ago.
