Monday's a Bitch

Labouring Away

1. What is an appropriate amount of labour for you? How many days a week would you work if it were your choice?
What I work now is just about perfect: 30-34 hours. It gives me three days off (frequently three in a row!) yet keeps me "in the game" enough not to feel as if I'm slacking off. I could do 40 again easily in a few years...if there's room in the budget.
2. If you could be paid an annual salary so that money wasn't a factor in choosing a career, what job would you want to have?
I've pretty much already got it. I love organizing stuff, other people's stuff! My own stuff...not so much. ;-)
3. Describe your most memorable Labour Day (or May Day) weekend.
I can't think of one, thus rendering the quesion rather moot. When I was a kid, we always drove to Ouray for the long weekend, but I can't think of a memorable event for any particular year.
4. What's the minimum wage where you live? Do you think it's appropriate?
$7.50/hour for adults ($7 for those under 18). I think it's a little low, but it's weird because when I first started working (age 16), I was making $2.85/hour, which was bumped after I'd 'proven my worth' and then went up when the law changed to $3.15/hour. In college, I think I made about $3.50-$4/hour. So in a way $7.50 sounds HUGE. But of course, it's not. That's about 2-1/2 gallons of gas, and around here most people commute a LOT.
5. Have you ever been in labour or helping someone else while she was in labour?
I've been in labor, yes. It sucked. I would be there for other women if asked.
Bonus question (we're making you work this Labour Day) - Do you spell it Labour Day or Labor Day?
No 'u'--spelling reform at it's highest point...sigh.
