I'd rather surprise someone for a party or something along those lines (gifts, etc.). However, I find myself being surprised by life on a regular basis.

Well, neither, really. I can't answer this.

3. Cook or be cooked for? Explain:

Be cooked for. The definitiveness (?) of that answer more than makes up for the lack of an answer for #2.

4. Cry or cause someone to cry? Explain:

Cry. The guilt of the other choice makes me nuts.
