Grown Up Questions

snagged from Kwizgiver....

1. Do you have a college degree? Yes

2. What was the amount of your last electric bill? I have absolutely no idea. Beast pays all the bills (yes, please don't yell, I know that's not at all "empowered" of me--no pun intended--just know that I paid the bills for about 10 years, so it's working out to about half and half).

3. Do you have life insurance? Yes. Lots of it.

4. How many hours per week do you work? Supposedly 30 for pay (insert {{snort}} here), and many more than that for hugs.

5. Have you ever attended a Toastmasters event? No, and y'know, I think I could manage to miss them for the rest of my life, too.

6. Favorite place to attend Happy Hour?? My living room.

7. How many miles is your commute to work each day (one way)? Around 9, I think. I really don't know for sure.

8. What time do you get up every morning for work? Depends on whether I'm showering, and whether I work the afternoon/evening shift or not. When I work in the mornings, I try to be in the shower no later than 6. I try to be on the road at the same time the school bus arrives for Sparky (7:40), but I'm not sure that's a big issue anymore. Maybe this year I can get back to being at work by 7:30 again.

9. What is your definition of sleeping in late? If I make it past 8, that's pretty amazing.

10. Do you check your cholesterol on a yearly basis? My doctor does. I have high "good" cholesterol, and that pushes my total into "high" so I'm supposed to watch it a little.

11. How large was your first cell phone bill? Again, I have no idea--see #2. I never go over my limits, I know that.

12. Does your employer provide good health insurance? I wouldn't know, personally, being 'legally' part-time.

13. Did you use the internet to write a research paper? My last research paper was returned to me, graded, in May 1986. So, yeah...not so much with the internet.

14. Have you attended a High School reunion? Two officialy ones, and several 'minis' with friends.

15. How many jobs have you held in your professional career? Technically two. I had two pre-graduation jobs while I was working on my Master's though: one in the university archives/special collections, and one as a children's librarian intern.

16. Have you ever been fired or laid off from a job? I've found that, short of proven malfeasance, it's very difficult to get fired from a library job.

17. What is your favorite drink? Daily: diet Dr. Pepper. Alcoholic: vodka & tonic (lime twist) or vodka & cranberry (w/ Chambord if it's available). And water. I like water more than I ever used to.

18. What is the most expensive bottle of wine that you have in your refrigerator? Actually in the fridge? Probably $20. Lying around waiting to be opened, outside the fridge? Probably substantially more than that, but I don't buy based on price; I buy based on taste and to see how I like this label. And, no, I'm not a snob about it.

19. Have you been divorced? No. Not so far.

20. How old were you when you stopped getting ID-ed for Alcohol? I can't remember the last time....oh, wait! We got carded at a grocery store in TN last month. It's state law as of July 1, they said, to check everyone who buys alcohol. They have to enter your lic. # into the computer, too, I think.

21. Favorite casino? I liked the Luxor in Vegas; it was the best-lit and least depressing. I don't gamble though, so really...a totaly non-issue for me.

22. Are you happier now than you were in high school? I don't know. I'm certainly less angst-y than I was then, and more content...as differentiated from happy. Yeah, I guess I probably am.

23. Did you ever have Hypercolor shirts? Nope. I don't even know if they were sold in my area.

24. Do you remember when Michael Jackson was black and was attracted to older people? I remember when his skin was much darker. I don't know who he was attracted to at that point, but he definitely sang about 'normal' stuff. I feel so sorry for him; he's a mess.

25. Do you remember when MTV actually played music videos? Yes, I used to love MTV, even up until about 7 or 8 years ago. I think "My Super Sweet 16" is what did it for me as far as classifying myself as an MTV viewer. Gack.

26. Have you had a will made? Yes, but I need to update it. It's at least 10 years old.

27. What music was in your cd / cassette player when you were 16? CD player?! Ha ha ha ha! I had a stereo with a record player! So let's see: Styx, the Bee Gees, Jesus Christ Superstar soundtrack, A Chorus Line soundtrack....

28. Favorite fancy / upscale restaurant? If I have to dress up, it ain't worth it to me. I do like the Backstreet Steakhouse in Galena, but they don't stand on ceremony; good food though.

29. How long has it been since you attended a kegger? I went to one the first week of college at the TKE house. Stayed about 10 minutes. That was just about 25 years ago.

30. Where were you when you found out about 9-11? At church. Beast called me while I was doing worship attendance. I drove home (the first tower went down while I was listening in the car) and our new pastor and his wife came over to watch the news. They didn't have their TV/cable hooked up yet (and we can't use TV here without a giant-ass antenna or cable). She kept saying she had to go to the store and stock up in case this was the end of the world (or something). It was quite freaky.
