Saturday Six
1. Think about your best friend in high school: how long has it been since you’ve seen him?
(er, "her") I saw one of them in March. I talked to the mom of another one, the one who stood me up (WTF!!). We ended up getting together with a couple of other friends for dinner that night: a friend since 7th grade and the brother of a guy I dated, and whom I always wished would ask me out. My, how things change...or not....2. Think of the last time you saw more than one of your high school classmates together at the same time: how did you happen to run into each other?
Oops, I kinda answered that, didn't I? I moved 1000 miles away for college and never went back to live in my hometown, so "running into" them doesn't happen. We had an absolutely AWESOME time at our 20th reunion a few years ago! I know, I must be the only person to ever say that....3. How many of your teachers do you think you would love to visit in person after all the years since you graduated, just to talk about having them as a teacher and catch up: one or two, three to five, five to ten, or more than ten?
Many of my high school teachers were nearing retirement when I was a student, so a lot of them are probably dead. Of the younger ones, I'd love to see Grubie. And, uh, my AP English teacher. I missed an opportunity earlier this month to attend a reunion of all the bands taught by my band director over the years. That would have been quite...bizarre, mostly in a good way.4. Take the quiz: Could you pass high school?
I did it here it's the last one in the post. I'm afraid to take it again, in case I've forgotten something since then! :-)5. What was the best lunch food your high school served?
Y'know, I don't remember the food being ALL that bad, generally. Honestly, the older I was, the less I remember about the whole food issue. I had a friend who brought sashimi every day--remember, this was pretty trend...hers was homemade by her mom each morning--but I don't remember what I ate. As a young child, I loved the baked cheese sandwiches in elementary school.6. Did you participate in any extra-curricular activities in high school, like sports, band, etc? If so, how many?
I did band. Band was HUGE at my high school--we rocked the state competition every fall in fieldshows. And I was in the pit orchestra for musicals two of my four years. Our school's sports programs sucked, however. I did help out with wrestling, generally at the meets, helping officiate (sorta--bit hard to explain), but that's as close as I got to sweating outside of P.E. class!
