Are you strict about wearing your sunscreen in the summer?

I'm pretty good about it, especially around my face and neck. I'm certainly better than I was at age 16: baby oil all over, and a squirt bottle full of water to hasten the tanning. Not that it worked (for me).

Do you frequently wear sandals in the summer? Any favorites you'd like to share?

I could do a whole post of shoes, and a decent-length one just on sandals. In spite of summer lasting only about four months here, I have about a dozen pairs of "summer footwear." This, compared with about four pairs of non-summery shoes and two pairs of boots.

What are a few great books that you've taken along to the beach or on vacation in years past? If you aren't a big reader, what do you do to while away the lazy hours?

I really can't read outside in bright sunlight. The sunlight gives me a headache, even with sunglasses on (in fact, sunglasses makes it worse). If I'm on the beach (rarity), I'll be playing Frisbee in the surf, or building a sand castle, or walking, or watching the other people. Since I haven't been on a proper beach in...a long time (over a decade, I'm pretty sure), I dunno if things have changed.

How do you feel about swimsuit shopping? Love it, hate it, indifferent? What's your color of choice?

Not my favorite thing to try on, but needs must. I have a black polka-dot one-piece, and a blue/green/mostly yellow tankini; both are several years old because I just don't really need a suit very often.
