Fear survey
When was the most recent frightening experience you’ve had? My niece nearly dying.
Have you ever been close to dying? Not really, unless you count some Stupid Driving Tricks I've been involved with over the years.
Does The Ring scare you? I've never watched it. So, yeah.
What movies have scared you? The first Lord of the Rings is the most recent. Fatal Attraction. Platoon. Seems to me Good Morning Vietnam. I actually don't watch 'officially' scary movies. I'm easily freakable.
What things were you afraid of when you were a child? Strangers, being noticed, making mistakes. OK, so basically, everything.
Are you still afraid of any of those things? I'm not fond of making mistakes. Being noticed no longer makes me as freaked out as it used to, and I talk to strangers all the time as a reference librarian. I'm not afraid of EVERYthing now.
Would you be able to enter yourself into the military? I could; I'm not sure I'd be accepted, and I'm pretty sure I never would.
What animals scare you? In daylight, only larger-than-me animals who seem inordinately cranky. At night, every invisible animal.
Oh, and bears. I've developed a real fear of bears over the past couple of years as a result to a couple of books I've read about bear attacks.
Have you ever been caught in a natural disaster? (Earthquake, hurricane, flood, snow storm, tornado, volcano eruption, etc.) "Snow storm"??? For fucks-sake... Yes, I've certainly been in a snowstorm. And several small earthquakes. Couple of times in tornado shelters, the storms went around me (thank God). No floods, no volcanos, no hurricanes. There've been some outrageously scary hailstorms, too, and one recent day of driving cross country in deep fog.
Has your house ever been robbed? Our mountain house was, when I was about 14; totally emptied out.
Has your house ever caught on fire? No, thank God!! Fires scare the crap outta me!
Do you fear poverty? Yes. Very middle-class of me.
Have you ever worried about running out of food or water? Water, yes. I can survive without food for a long time.
Do you fear for life-threatening diseases such as AIDS or cancer? Not actively.
Do you know anyone that has a life-threatening disease? Huh. Yeah. Just in my family.
Have you ever been seriously stalked? No, though I'm feeling slightly paranoid at my other blog lately....
Have you ever experienced a gun fire close to you? Not really, though there are always gunshots during hunting season close enough to be easily heard from inside my house.
Have you ever been in a vehicle accident? Yup.
Have you ever gotten chased or attacked by an animal? I was bitten by one of those stupid little dogs with Napoleon complexes when I was 8 or so. Otherwise, no.
Have you ever been strangled, punched, kicked, hit, etc.? (Not as a joke): No.
Have you ever used/considered using a weapon against someone in order to save yourself? I haven't been put in that position, but yeah if it were kill or be killed, I'm sure I could.
Have you ever been kidnapped? Not seriously, no.
Has anyone you know been kidnapped? No.
Has anyone you know been murdered? No.
Do you fear death? Not really.
Do you fear ghosts/spirits? No.
Do you believe in the Ouija board? No, unequivocally. What a joke.
Would you rather go through lots of physical pain or lots of mental pain? Neither. OK, I'd take physical over mental, I guess. Better painkillers available for that.
Do you fear needles? I don't like watching them go into skin, but I'm not afraid of them.
Do you hate being alone? Not at all.
What kind of things make you nervous? Changes in plan, and silence in a room full of people.
When are you most paranoid? At work.
Do you ever get super paranoid right after you watched a horror movie or anything else disturbing? No.
Have you looked behind you yet? No.
What is the most disturbing/frightening/or just plain weird thing you have ever experienced? Hearing my dad's voice in my kitchen about 3 years after he died.
What scares you that hasn’t been mentioned on this survey? Sparky being hurt or killed.
