Monday's Memes

Manic Monday (link at left) -- Miles to Go Before I Sleep

What is the "turning point" in your life?
Up to this point, I'd say the big turning points have been going to college and becoming a parent. There are lots of other smaller ones, though: marriage, quitting my job, surgery, family funerals....
Is there a promise that you keep making to yourself? If so, what is it?
For years, I promised that "This Year" I wouldn't get so depressed in the winter.... I finally started to deal with it practically (which generally works) rather that through magical thinking (which didn't work).
Is there a time in your life that you've been given a second chance?
Huh. Yeah. Giant MFing tumor that looked like every malignant cancer the doctors had seen...and was 100% benign.

Has there ever been a time in your life when you felt as if you were facing something or someone truly evil?
There are glints of it all around us all the time. Probably my introduction to evil as an adult was realizing that PsychoBoss was battling it at every turn, which is what made her so (d'oh) Psycho. Clinical depression certainly qualifies as evil in my book.
Where would you like to go exploring?
Egypt.

1. What song gives you the most holiday cheer?
I like Joy to the World in church settings, and Jingle Bells in a secular setting.
2. Who is the hardest person to shop for on your holiday list?
Linda. I never get it right with her.
3. When do you start your holiday shopping?Normally I've got some stuff put away by the end of summer, but this year I've completely sucked.4. What food or drink do you love when it's cold out?
Frozen vodka shots if I'm outside. Or hot tea if I'm inside trying to thaw out.
5. What do you do to get rid of a cold or flu?
I just ride it out by sleeping as much as possible. If I think I'm coming down with something, I usually take a handful of Vitamin C to boost my immune system. It's worked so far this year....
