RevGal Friday Five

Brush with Fame

1. Tell us about a time you met someone famous.
The only even remotely well-known person I've ever met is Stephen Tobolowsky who was in town a couple of years for a festival we do in the middle of winter involving a large-ish rodent. He's vaguely associated with said rodent. I just met him enough to say hi. I'm really totally uninterested in meeting famous people, actually. Who knows: I may have met others and not even known it!!

Oh, and our state senator and his family uses our library regularly. He was our real estate attorney when we moved to this state 12 years ago.
2. Tell us about a celebrity you'd like to meet.
There are an awful lot of authors I'd like to meet. I can't think of a "celebrity" though. I'm sure I'd be tongue-tied. Maybe Jorja Fox. She seems down-to-earth and not overwhelmingly "Hollywood."
The only other person I would enjoy meeting is Christiane Amanpour or someone else from CNN who follows the stories and keeps popping up without us really knowing their names well. Bernard Shaw would be VERY cool to meet.
3. Tell us about someone great who's *not* famous that you think everyone oughta have a chance to meet.
My first pastor, the one at my church when I was growing up, was wonderful. Les Avery, you rock!
I can't think of anyone else, except maybe one of my brothers-in-law or one of my nieces, both of whom are smart AND funny AND engaging.
4. Do you have any autographs of famous people?
I could not possibly be less interested in something than collecting signatures. I think working in an archive briefly cured me of that. Uh, great, we have a signature, but the guy is still DEAD! It's cool in an historical sense, but...{shrug} it's just more stuff to keep track of.
5. If you were to become famous, what would you want to become famous for?
I have no interest in being famous. Why do you think I'm anonymous!
Bonus: Whose 15 minutes of fame was up long, long ago?
I could only wish: the entire Bush family and attendants. Also, almost every singer who goes only by a first name, or who changes his name on a semi-regular basis. And Starr Reynolds, or whatever her name is.
Actually there are a LOT of them! I'm not even going to hit all the "famous for being famous" people.
