Thirteen Things about CSI That I Like- William Petersen. He's a good actor, playing a smart guy who happens to be completely inept about his attractiveness.
- Jorja Fox. She's pretty, but not gorgeous, a very good actress (why can't I train my eyebrows to do what hers do?!) and she gets to play with power tools, get dirty and crawl under cars. And it looks like she and Gil finally got their acts together!
- The rest of the cast, who are good actors as well, but they are also awfully nice to look at. Not namin' any specific names here...but, oy. Just, yeah. [I'm not talking about everyone, but the VAST majority!]
- Gooshy, gooey, gutty stuff. Yum. I've always liked the books about cutting up bodies, discovering new diseases, figuring out the life-cycle of bugs.... Now it's all on TV. Here's a hint: my high school term paper was on Jack the Ripper.
- Science geeks rule!
- Las Vegas is the perfect setting for this kind of show. I really believe that anything can (and has) happened there. In fact, if someone told me Martians have been living in Vegas for decades, it wouldn't surprise me at all.
- I love the commentary on society. I could do with a few less discussions of how horrible kids are--there were a lot of stories a couple of years ago about kids who kill--but by and large, they cover everything from spoiled rich people to trailer-park weirdness.
- The writers rarely talk down to the audience.
- No David Caruso. Well, except for the one episode....
- Generally, it's a show we all enjoy. It prompts discussion (see #7) and makes for interesting dreams. It also makes our lives look really boring and makes us appreciate boring!
- All the seasons are out on DVD.
- I learn something on every single episode. OK, sometimes it's something along the lines of the existence of "foam parties." But usually it's something interesting for the world of trivia in which I like to live.
- It's nice to have a show based outside of New York, Chicago and someplace-in-California. The scenery shots are beautiful, and they make good use of all the different kinds of venues available in the Vegas area, i.e. NOT just casinos.
