The Survey Place

Sig Other

1. Your sig other's name is...?
He goes by The Beast here, which apparently is a shortened version of E. Beast. I. Al (I have no idea). Other names include Houston, Amish, Beef, The Hammer... His parents call him by his first initial. Sparky calls him Dad.
2. How did you meet?
He was chasing my college roommate early in our freshman year of college and came over to our dorm to hassle her. She wouldn't give him more than the time of day. I guess I was more fun. ;-)
3. How long have you been going out/married?
Married 20 years last month. We've known each other for almost 24 years, but only dated for 2 years or so before getting married.
4. His zodiac sign? Your zodiac sign?
We're both Scorpios. For better or worse.
5. Best physical feature?
His lips. And his legs.
6. Describe his/her personality:
He's a big teddy bear most of the time, but he's easily frustrated when things don't go his way. When he gets annoyed, it can be intimidating just because he's not a small guy. He likes to work hard (physically) and he really likes to know how and why things work the way they do. He also likes to be in charge and boss people around.
7. One habit/quirk you find adorable about him/her?
I'm blowing his image here: he cries during sad movies/TV shows.
8. When he fixes something for me, it stays fixed.

9. List three things you two have in common as a couple:
I think as individuals we share the following characteristics: love of competition, a weird sense of the absurd, and a similar view of the political situation.
10. Do you two have a special song? If so, what is it?
"Babe" by Styx. It has become very ironic, actually, since it begins "Babe, I'm leavin'/I must be on my way" and his job requires a lot of travel. He will be gone for at least one night every week this month.

One summer in college, John Waite kept singing "Missing You." Whenever I hear that song, I think of that period. He was in PA, I was in CO.
11. Describe your relationship in only one word:
Companionable. Or, if you prefer, comfortable.
12. If your relationship was a type of music, what type would it be?
Probably Easy Listening. ;-) He'd prefer it be almost purely instrumental. I prefer music with lyrics.
13. What's one thing about your relationship that people don't know about?
I think people thing I'm the calm one. I'm not the calm one.
14. What's one thing you'd change about your partner?
If he could be less nonverbal, I'd be thrilled.
15. What's his fave color? Yours?
His is red. Mine is blue. It works all right.
16. If your partner was an animal, which animal would he be?
A hunting dog, probably a terrier of some sort.
17. Your partner is a food -- which food would he be?
Macaroni & cheese.
18. What's his bday? Yours?
His is Nov. 18. Mine is six days prior to his. Both of us were born just before Kennedy was shot.
19. Name one subject/opinion you two differ on?
How to treat other people.
20. Do you plan to marry? Why or why not?
I already did. I think that's enough times for me at once, thanks.
21. Do you plan to have children? Why or why not?
Too late, we already have one. I wanted to adopt; he didn't. He wanted more kids the "natural way"; I didn't.
God decided...in my favor...on the latter.
22. His/her most endearing quality?
He works hard and sleeps hard.
23. Favorite way to spend time with your loved one?
I love going places with him...traveling...driving. He likes a good adventure, and he likes to travel.
24. Any regrets over your relationship thus far?
Only that I married really young and didn't get a chance to be single for long.
25. Finally, where do you see your relationship in five years?
We'll be getting ready to send Sparky off to college, having just celebrated our 25th anniversary. So either we'll be planning a huge trip for ourselves as a gift, or one of us will be in prison for murder. Stay tuned.
