A lie is a lie is a lie. Sin of commission and sin of omission.
I guess it's not a lie if you don't know it's a lie. For instance, if someone asks how my mom is doing and I say, "Fine" because the last I knew she was. But then I find out she isn't fine. That's not a lie. Is it?
