Spring Cleaning
1. Do you do spring cleaning? If so, what do you do?
Normally I don't go nuts. This year, we're getting our carpets cleaned, and the windows are in dire need of a good scrub. The siding on the house is gross, too, so it will need power-washing. And God knows, the inside of the house needs to be tidied and organized!!
2. What's the mosted cluttered area/room of your home?
Does the fact that the hearth is full of furniture in the living room, and the window seat in the dining room has furniture piled four feet deep on top of it give you a clue? [that's in prep for carpet cleaning]
Actually, the worst room is probably our office, followed by the spare room.
3. How do you split up cleaning duties in your home? Do you have a system? How about a schedule?
The Cleaning Fairy comes periodically, so we keep things tidy for her. Otherwise, there is no system: when things get really stacked up horribly, one of us just goes on a cleaning spree. And when one of use (usually me) notices the fixtures getting icky, whoever notices them cleans them.
I am fortunate enough to live with someone who has about the same clean/tidy level as I do. If he were a neatnik, we'd be divorced.
4. What are your favorite and least favorite cleaning chores?
I absolutely hate doing floors, especially mopping them.
I don't mind cleaning bathrooms and kitchens. My favorite is doing dishes.
5. If you could rid yourself of one household chore forever, what would it be and why?
Outside of those damn floors, I'd say dusting. Doing any kind of dusting stirs up my allergies and I really feel like shit at the end of it. Leaving it undone has the same effect. Hence, the Cleaning Fairy's employment....
