New Music
1. Are you really into music? Does it get you excited, or can you take it or leave it?
Yes. Don't believe me? You haven't been reading my other blog. I do like quiet times (like right now--I'm at home).
2. Do you look forward to new albums coming out? Are you one of those people that waits with bated breath, or do you just buy albums when you are walking by a kiosk or something like that?
I have always bought very few albums. Between Beast and me, we have lesst than 100 records, and less than 75 purchased CDs. I make the distinction of "purchased" because Amy makes lots of mix-discs. And I do get excited when those show up. Someday, when I have an iPod...
3. What kind of music did you listen to as a kid (0-18)?. What do you listen to now?
As a kid I listened to everything from Ferrante & Teicher to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir to Bach/Beethoven/Brahms to Top 40 Radio (very little hard rock). I know all the lyrics to the show tunes of the 50s and 60s that my parents owned. And, of course, I went through a stage of bubblegum pop, which still makes me smile.
I still listen to all of the above--with the exception of classical, unless I'm at home trying to concentrate on something--and hard rock, punk, ska, some country, trance, world music.... Hey, you know what? Just go check out my radio station...you can see what I've rated high (and low).
Bonus Question: Does music hold the same meaning as an adult as it did when you were a kid? Why/why not?
Yes, though I think it's wider and deeper now that I've made my own choices about what is 'good.'
