1. Do you have a Valentine this year?
Presumably, this means a person. Yes.
2. How will you spend the big day itself?
I'll be at work. We may go out for dinner. I should probably buy The Boys each a card.
3. What are you most allergic to? Do you have to take medication or avoid certain medication to stay well?
I'm allergic to mold, dust, dogs, cats, some grasses, and corn pollen. In the summer I take Allegra every day. I also have been getting allergy shots for about 9 years, but I'm down to once every six weeks instead of weekly. Generally, I practice avoidance to the extent I can. Thank God for a/c in August/September, living as I do in the midst of Cornfield, USA.
I'm also allergic to morphine, but that's pretty easy to avoid! hee hee
4. Take this quiz (if you haven't already!): What temperment are you?
You Have a Melancholic Temperament |
Introspective and reflective, you think about everything and anything. You are a soft-hearted daydreamer. You long for your ideal life. You love silence and solitude. Everyday life is usually too chaotic for you. Given enough time alone, it's easy for you to find inner peace. You tend to be spiritual, having found your own meaning of life. Wise and patient, you can help people through difficult times. [oh, ha ha] At your worst, you brood and sulk. Your negative thoughts can trap you. You are reserved and withdrawn. This makes it hard to connect to others. You tend to over-think small things, making decisions difficult. |
[the bits I agree with are italicized]
This is the same answer I got when I first did this meme.
5. There is actually a town in my state of birth, South Carolina, called Ninety-Six. What's the most unusual place name in the your home state. (For home state, it can be where you live now or where you grew up.)
In Colorado--where I grew up--there is a town called Parachute, which always cracks me up. There's also Rifle. And Telluride, which is an ore. Who wouldn't want to live in Brush? Or Hygiene? Or Cripple Creek?
I just discovered in looking in the atlas that there is a town called Swink. That may be my favorite; it sounds like a fun place. Diametrically opposed to that is another one I've never heard of: Dream House Acres. Oh, please: shoot me.
6. How much money would you need to really feel secure?
Most of the time I feel financial secure where we are now.
However, this is one of those weird questions, because while I feel secure about our current financial condition, there's always that worry about old age. There have been very few times in my (married) life when I haven't felt like we were doing ok, livin within our means, even when that was on Beast's salary of $28,000 while I was going to grad school. I've always worried about the future more than the current situation. Probably an outgrowth of my parents' financial woes when I was a child.
